    2. Pauline Shepheard
    3. Hi Again Kay, Further to my previous message I think I might be able to clarify this for you. In the 1851 census for Pewsey John Amor (shoemaker) is listed at 39 with wife Martha and 7 children - I think Martha is Johns second wife she is 11 years younger than John and since the first child is 13 she would have been 14/15 had he been hers - which is of course not impossible but maybe not likely. Added to which I have details of 4 of the children (names and ages fit) from the Milton Registers born to John and Sarah (on the last baptism (Louisa) John is shown as a Shoemaker from Pewsey). I think the first 5 or 6 children in the census may be John and Sarah's and the last child John and Martha's. If you think this is right I'll send the baptism/census details to you off list if you haven't got them. 3. Hi Paul It's in there under the spelling 'Shalbourn'. It's a good move if you find this problem to search the catalogue using only the first 5-6 letters of the name as some of the misspellings come to light thus! Cheers Rob ___________________________________________________________ ALL-NEW Yahoo! Messenger - all new features - even more fun! http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com

    1. BLACKMORE/ABBOT - seeking marriage c1834ish
    2. Linda Hardy
    3. Dear Listers, Seeking marriage of John BLACKMORE to Elizabeth ABBOT c1834ish give or take a year or so, John was born 1799 in Devon, Elizabeth was born 1813 in Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset. Had 5 children: Thomas born c1834 (birthplace unknown), John born c1837 at Bradford, Wiltshire, Elizabeth born c1839 (birthplace unknown), two further children born in Surrey. I've found most of the females in my family marry in the town/village/parish they were born in, so maybe Elizabeth and John married in Dorset?. wishful thinking probably. Thank you Linda Tasmania, Australia

    1. Boarding School in Bath
    2. Marilyn Moffat
    3. I have a relative in Birmingham who in unfortunate circumstances was unable to care for her 2 children. The son was adopted, but the younger girl, born 1902, was sent to a boarding school in Bath. I don't know the religion involved, but there is a history of some members of this family being either Quaker or Seventh Day Adventist - this may or may not help in identifying the school. A bit of a long shot I know, but does anyone know of such girls schools in Bath at this time? There were probably a lot of schools at that time!!! Doreen Roberts (the girl in question) would not have been well to do at all, - so it may be that the school which took her in was run by a charity or a religious group. I am corresponding with Doreen's daughter and trying to help her find more of her mother's past! Any hints as to where I could start looking would be welcome! TVM IA Marilyn

    1. Rootsweb
    2. Hi all Looks like normal service has been resumed following the breakdown on Rootsweb's incoming mail server at the weekend. This meant that ALL mail to EVERY list did not reach rootsweb for distribution. The theory is that emails were stacked up by individual ISP's and so all should appear. The exception being AOLwhere mails were deleted from the email queue. So if your messages do not appear over the next 24 hours or so, it may be worth re-sending. As a general comment, it is pointless sending "test" messages to a list if there appears to be problems - the first port of call should always be the rootsweb helpdesk at :- _http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/_ (http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/) where updates are posted by rootsweb. Take care Linda & Tony List Admin
