Hello all, I posted a look up request last week, but I think I may have sent it to some other part of the world. So without further ado, I'll try again. Could someone with access to the 1861 census please look up 14 Somerset Place Taunton Somerset, to see if my g.g.grandfather Vicente GUTIERREZ and his wife Mary Ann were living there at this time. I got this address from my g.grandfather's birth certificate and I would like to see if there were any more rellies about that I don't know of! Any help would be much appreciated. Mike Gutierrez

Hi, The Hill Paul building in question was in Stroud, Glos, not Calne. If you ever travelled to Stroud railway atation, you could not miss it - a real landmark and a trajedy if it were to be demolished. The firm was, indeed, a textile firm, but I am afraid I do not have any details. Another list of Wessex-plus strays in Jersey (not New Jersey) in 1851 and 1871. I have noted where there are others of the same surname at the same reference and have assumed that they are the same family. I have also noted where those in one list also appear in the other index - they usually gave their birthplace as 'England' in the other index. This list does not include all the strays - I will have missed some and others will have given their birthplace consistently as England. I do not know anything further about anyone on this list. Hi fellow listers I am looking for Joseph ISGER b.1824, Frome. He appears in the 1841 census as a servant in Frome but then disappears. His parents, Joseph and Elizabeth also disappear and do not follow their younger children to Lewes, Sussex. The 1881 census lists a Joseph ISGER, said to be born in Shepton Mallett and I wonder if there is a link? If SKS has the time to look at the 1851 census for Shepton Mallett for these absentees, it would be much appreciated. Restating my main interests after absence and a period of lurking.
