I had problems with that software and resolved it by changing to Legacy 3. I don't know whether you still can download it for free, it was offered at one time from: www.legacyfamilytree.com Marie (Canada) mailto:therra@istar.ca http://www.ancestral-echoes.com researching Anderson, Cutler, Smith, Stannard and related names. Hi All, Did my eyes deceive me or was the surname CORNISH mentioned on the list a short time ago, suffering from an abominable flu virus I must have deleted it before I took in all the info. If the person who's researching that name would get in touch I have at least one CORNISH lady marrying into one of my lines. Hi Adrian Might be worth asking the Devon Record Office at: devrec@devon.gov.uk but I note that at: http://www.devon.gov.uk/dro/register/regisa-e.html they say they only have BMD for: EXBOURNE 1769-1870 1755-1837 1769-1812 LDS only hold: >England, Devon, Exbourne - Census >England, Devon, Exbourne - Court records >England, Devon, Exbourne - Taxation At: http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/genuki/DEV/Exbourne/index.html#ChurchRecords Genuki says: >Parish Registers going back to 1755 are held in the Devon Record Office Doesn't look good Adrian :-( Regards Paul Portland On Sat, 3 Feb 2001 05:59:03 -0000, you wrote: >I obtained a copy of a family tree for my SHOBBROOK forebears about 2 years >ago from Exbourne. I obtained a copy of a family tree for my SHOBBROOK forebears about 2 years ago from Exbourne. There was a gap in the tree for baptisms at North Lew between William who was christened on 1 April 1724 and Thomas in 1741. However there was a note to the effect that some records were lost in a fire at Ashbury House in 1877. Is it correct that these were records lost, please? Do bishop's transcripts exist and if they do, how is it possible to access them, please? TIA Adrian Yorkshire Researching Devon - LUSCOMBE, SHOBBROOK, PERRIAM, PITTS, QUICK & CORNISH. Hi Jayne, On Fri 02 Feb, Jayne Priaulx wrote: > Sob Sob though.... the site tells me I have to upgrade to a better > browser (Microsoft?) > but, I am running 'Marcel' on an Acorn Risc PC machine (not a PC > platform). > Has anyone else had this problem - what did you do. We also run a Risc PC - and used to run the Ant Internet Suite with Fresco as the web browser. There is nothing you can do about your problem as long as you continue to use Fresco. I recently bought the Oregano web browser from Castle Technology. It is a lot more stable than Fresco and is still being actively developed, although it doesn't yet have a cache, and some other features. It will cost you about £60, but the big advantage is that you can set it to fake Netscape or Microsoft. I use this to get into FamilySearch. You can get a trial copy of Oregano from http://www.castle.org.uk You can also use Oregano with all the other components of the Ant Internet Suite. If you decide to get the full version I can help you to install it if you have any problems. Rosemary, Northumberland PS I am not connected in any way with Castle Technology, but I have been using a Risc OS computer for 3 years and not only that, my son knows all about it!
