Ann ANDRES - International Genealogical Index >Gender: F Christening: 5 Jun 1816 New Meeting Barrack Street-Independent, Bridport, Dorset, England > > 2. Sarah ANDRESS - International Genealogical Index >Gender: F Christening: 6 Apr 1804 New Meeting Barrack Street-Independent, Bridport, Dorset, England > > 3. Charles ANDRESS - International Genealogical Index >Gender: M Christening: 12 Mar 1806 New Meeting Barrack Street-Independent, Bridport, Dorset, England > > 4. Frederic ANDRESS - International Genealogical Index >Gender: M Christening: 24 Aug 1809 New Meeting Barrack Street-Independent, Bridport, Dorset, England > > 5. Elizabeth ANDRESS - International Genealogical Index >Gender: F Christening: 5 Aug 1812 New Meeting Barrack Street-Independent, Bridport, Dorset, England > > 6. Walter ANDRESS - International Genealogical Index >Gender: M Christening: 29 Mar 1815 New Meeting Barrack Street-Independent, Bridport, Dorset, England > However, having said all that, I've found in one or two instances, where the surname has been mis-transcribed that this form of search occasionally mis-fires ie the above name is sometimes spelt ANDREWS etc and depending on the search engine you might miss them! Once I've found a child who matches what I'm looking for, after I've completed the process above, I'll sometimes download the whole batch - as long as it isn't over 5,000 records, leaving out details of names. Cut and paste each page into a good text editor like Textpad - ideally one that runs macros: find and replace with commas all the repetitive stuff: import the result into a spread sheet or database and then play around with the result, in conjunction with the IGI search - adding more info on parents etc as necessary - usually there is no need, but sometimes it throws up connections in First Names etc which perhaps one wouldn't normally find in a standard search. You may find that the search doesn't work first time - in which case you may need to try again - I have experienced problems sometimes and have noted that others have received nil reports when in fact they know there is data there. The answer is to test you search on known info and then extend it accordingly. Hope this answers your query Regards Paul Portland

Hello to everyone. I'm new to the list and hoping to find some help in searching for MARY ANN HUNT in the area. I do not have an exact birth year or a definite name for her mother. >From her Marriage to CHARLES YEATMAN 1869 in London, her age 'full' and father named JOHN HUNT(deceased) >From the 1881 Census at London St Giles age given 36years (b.abt 1845) birthplace is Bath. She came to New Zealand in 1887 to join her husband, age given on shipping list 38years (b.abt 1849) On her Death cert. in 1934, age 93 (b.abt 1841). No mother's name mentioned on any of these certificates. A cousin searching feels she was born Oct-Dec 1849,Bath. Mother ELIZABETH ASBURY b.1818 Keinton,Mandeville. Died Oct-Dec 1881,Keinton,Mandeville. Father JOHN HUNT, c.April 5 1818,Bath; Died Jan-Mar 1858,Bath Elizabeth and John married Jan-Mar 1839,Bath. There could be a sister,SARAH (b.Apr-Jun 1851,Keinton,Mandeville) who married a BENJAMIN W CABBLE Apr-Jun 1872 at Langport. Sarah died 1881 at Keinton (same year as her mother?) There are some Hunt's in Kent we feel she was related to as apparently she used to say how much she enjoyed holidays in Kent. Can anyone help me verify these details and get copies of documents? Thanks for reading this, the lists are really interesting to read Regards Cynthia Fraser CindyF@xtra.co.nz
As some of you already know, I am working as a team leader for the "Count Me In" UK Census 2001. The pace is starting to quicken on the run-up to April 29. On Wednesday, my district manager and I calculated the exact number of forms, pamphlets, envelopes, post-its, notices, and Harry knows what else, to be supplied to each of our 28 enumerators. We then spent over 9 hours counting them out and making up the individual supply bundles. Each enumerator gets an A4 size stack between 3 and 4 ft high plus a fancy yellow shoulder bag with training manuals, reference books, language sheets and two ERB's = Enumeration Record Books. Almost one and a half tons in all. Of course, being a temporary civil servant, I am fast learning gobbledegook, I know a good half page of acronyms, and countless abbreviations. I can tell you that it is vital that I know when to use a CE and I1's in preferrence to an H1 . Oh! And I must remember the P1's and the PR's to put them in. Next week, we are appointing our enumerators - some are still needed in some parts of the country, so phone your local job centre to find out how to earn £400 or so (all expenses paid). The training videos are very good. And for those of you who remember Anne Gregg, who presents them, she stll has one of the loviest of smiles. I'll be unsubbing soon as 200 postings a day on top is getting a bit much. And you UK folk, don't forget to fill in your form and post it. Else you'll get an ENR E 4 reminder note followed by a very strongly worded ENR E 5. Regards to you all Ernie Bull Bristol, UK.
Hi Paul Many thanks for your reply. I look forward to visiting the map site you recommend. BTW, is the Anger bit of Fisherton Anger pronounced as in rage, or to rhyme with danger, please? Kind regards Joy
Hello all: I've recently found my widowed 3x' great grandmother along with two of her sons, their wives and children in Chute, WILTS in 1851. If someone has access to the 1814 census or (better yet) parish records for Collingbourne Ducis, I would be very grateful to find the name of my 3x's grest grandfather BAKER. Based on what I know, the family may still have been in Collingbourne Ducis in 1841. This is the family: Unknown BAKER - head. age unknown (b. unknown) Maria (COOK)BAKER - his wife, age 59 (b. ~1782 Ludgershall, WILTS) Thomas BAKER - son, age 24(b. ~1817 Collingbourne Ducis, WILTS) Edward BAKER - son, age 22 (b. ~1819 Collingbourne Ducis, WILTS) Martha BAKER - possible daughter(age and birthplace unknown) Thanks for any assistance or guidance anyone may be able to offer. Hi listers The marriage certificate for my g g g grandparents arrived this morning and I would be extremely grateful if anybody who is researching these surnames or who knows anything about these families or individuals would get in touch. William BILLING married Mary HAKE on 22/10/1846 at Buckland St Mary Church, Somerset. According to census info, William would have been 28 and Mary 19 years old. Both were resident in Buckland St Mary at the time of the marriage. William's occupation is given as blacksmith, as is his father who was also called William. Mary's father is given as Saunder HAKE, a labourer. Witnesses to the marriage were James YARD and what looks like Eluhan/Ebram YARD. I looked at the LDS website, and on the IGI a marriage is recorded between Sanders HAKE and Elizabeth YARD in 1825, again in Buckland St Mary. I'm guessing that Sanders and Saunder HAKE are one and the same. If you can help, please get in touch. All information very gratefully received!! Thanks Jo Leeds, West Yorks

However, time marches on and Salisbury has now consumed FA, which now forms the north west suburb of the newer City. The present parish church of St Paul was built in 1852 and replaced the old church of St Clement. I'm not sure if the old maps site is working this week-end as they promised downtime over this weekend, but if you have a look at: http://www.old-maps.co.uk/oldSite/10wilts381/HTML/fs_38066001g.htm next week if you can find "Fisherton Farm" in the middle of the map to the north of Salisbury, with St Paul's church to the South East, the area in between and down to the railway station was where FA used to be situated. On Multimap I think it forms the area between the leisure centre and the red blob which marks the railway station. Zoom right in and there is a Fisherton Island and Fisherton St. Regards Paul Portland
