I have just been informed that the local community board has awarded $1000 NZ to plant a median strip with these early daffodils. But the local authority says they cant find them! If anyone can give me information on how to find a source for them I would be most grateful. The stip is outside the home of the man most entitled to be called our "First Colonist" but he has never been recognized. Not only was he an avid gardener but also was chairman of the huge Hagley Park Gardens until he died. This would be a most appropriate way to give him the applause he never received in life. Please forward any information to mailto:[email protected] Living very hopefully, Frances
An item from GENUKI FAMILY HISTORY NEWS No 127: "Thanks to Nick Keeler for spotting the following item in the local Bristol Press - "Public records on microfilm containing millions of personal details have gone missing from Bristol Central Library.Up to 1,400 microfilms that relate to births are missing, as are 1,000 relating to marriages and 1,000 to deaths. One microfilm is said by the library to hold "hundreds" of details. They were discovered to be missing when users at the library began tracing their family history. The library has estimated that it will cost £20,000 to replace the missing microfilm. Almost all the records refer to surnames beginning with "W", and date from 1837 to 1992. Robert Harrison, from Bristol Central Library, would not speculate on why the records may have gone missing Police have launched an investigation."
Hi Geoff The best way for you to access that info would be to access the White Pages on line. If you go to www.whitepages.com.au you can select the city of your search. Hi list, I have just traced an ancestor of mine back to Cove in Hampshire. The family name is Siggery and according to the LDS there are a fair number of Siggeries in that area. I am looking for the connections of Thomas Siggery born 1841 in Cove. He went to the East End of London in the docks, the isle of Dogs and Stepney to find his wealth and he found a wife, my gt grandmother on my maternal side. So if any of you have any knowledge of the Hamsphie Siggery's please get in contact. geoff

Lots of "outbox" trouble today so apologies if you have already had this. If you are researching "Simpkins" in north-west Wiltshire, especially Chippenham and Winsley, I would be very pleased to hear from you. Geoffrey Crighton

Hi all Just to let you know, we have transcribed and alphabetically indexed the St Marys, Alverstoke burial register 1813 to 1925 inclusive - appx 9000 entries. The index contains the full entry details - Name , date of burial, abode and age at death. It also includes burials at St Marks, Gosport which were included in the St Marys registers. There are a number of burials where death occurred outside of Gosport. Take care Linda & Tony Visit our web site at www.knightsure.co.uk/knightroots/genealogy
Thanks for the suggestions re NP. It makes sense, but my fellow married in Heytesbury and was living there at that time and was working and living there when arrested, however still gave his NP as Tisbury. Perhaps he really did live half way between and so changed his address according to who was asking! Anyway thanks again Eileen ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, February 21, 2003 1:16 AM Subject: Re: [WSX] NP In a message dated 20/02/2003 12:43:59 GMT Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Hi Listers, What did it mean, in the early 1800's, when a person stated that a particular place was their Native Place? My ancestor was baptised at Heytesbury but claimed his NP was Tisbury. Cheers Native place Tisbury is only 8 miles from Heytesbury, but probably lived in Tisbury all his life therefore was native to it. Probably mother lived in Heytesbury before marriage so took baby to be christened there. It happens all the time. Also though they are 8 miles apart they could have lived midway between the 2. Graham
