Author: strictnurse Surnames: Welsh Classification: queries Message Board URL: Message Board Post: In the name of God Amen I John Welsh of the county of Tryon and province of North Carolina being very sick and weak in body but perfect mind and memory thanks be to God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in deacent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I will receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly istate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and ?? and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and bequeath to Margaret Welsh my dear beloved wife the best young creature of hors kind also her sadle and bed and furniture belonging thereto also the housel goods except to my oldest daughter Rebeccah two pewter dishes and ?plates and one mare and sadle allso my working tools except ? saws one cross cut and one whip saw to be left to my wife and children on the plantation. Tract of ? to be sold by my executors (*this line crossed through). Allso two horse creatures to work the plantation, one tract of land to be sold by my executors namely Camp Creek. Allso to my daughter Margaret one young mare and ? of a saddle out of the estate and to my wife five pounds for her in child bearing and my plantation to be sold if my executors can agree or should move out of the province and to be equally divided between my wife and children and allso the cattle sheep and hogs exceipted if theise is anoff to pay my debts and said cattle sheep and hogs to be divided between m! y wife and children and all the rest of my estate to be sould to pay my debts and funeral charges. I likewise constitute make and ordain the sole executors of this my last will and testament all and I do hereby utterly disanul revoke and disalow and all other former testaments wills legacies bequests and executors by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to me my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th day of June in the year of our Lord 1769.
