    1. [WELSH] PACKARD - WELSH Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel via
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Almon PACKARD which was taken at the Merrill Studio in either Lewiston or Norway, ME sometime in the early 1900's. Almon appears to be in his teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. It was recovered with others from the Hebron Academy classes of 1907 and 1908 so I'm guessing he is connected to that institution in some manner. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Almon and his family: Almon Leslie PACKARD was b. 18 Apr 1888 in Newton Center, MA to parents Sidney Eugene PACKARD (b. 8 Dec 1860 in Warren, ME) and Marcia Emma SPEAR (b. 17 Jun 1861 in Warren, ME). Almon had a brother Stacy Leander PACKARD (1891-1934). Almon married Edna E. WELSH or WELCH (b. 11 Apr 1889 in Friendship, ME) on 15 Sept 1917 and they had a daughter Mary E. PACKARD (b. 18 Jan 1920 in Bath, ME). Almon died in Pownal, ME on 16 Aug 1971 and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Warren, ME. Almon's daughter married Thomas VOSMUS in Maine in 1942 and she died in Pownal, ME in 1976. If you are a member of this family, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: kailawelsh Surnames: Welsh, Walsh, Welch, Walch Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.welsh/1362/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for more information on Honora and Patrick Welsh (or Walsh) who immigrated to Jefferson County, West Virginia from Ireland (most likely Cork or Limerick counties). Both are probably buried in Saint Peter's Cemetery in unmarked graves. Honora was born about 1790 and can be seen in the 1850 census, probably having passed away before 1860. She and Patrick had four known sons, Martin (circa 1812 - September 18, 1871), Patrick (born about 1820), James (circa 1826 - February 27, 1871), and Thomas Buchanon (circa 1834 - March 11, 1875). 1) Martin, born Ireland, probably had a son named MIchael (married Mary "Mollie" Howard) who moved to PA shortly after the birth of his first son. Michael's mother and relation to this Martin is unclear. 2) Patrick, was born in Ireland. 3) James, born Ireland, married a Margaret. 4) Thomas, born Virginia, married Annie Gertrude Murphy in 1859. There are also two unidentified Welshes with some relation to Honora and Patrick. "Batt" Welsh, born Virginia circa 1838, and Ann Welsh, born Ireland circa 1834. A boarder, William Jackson, born Maryland circa 1823, lives with the family for a number of years as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated! My father seems to remember a passenger list with them coming through the port of Philadelphia or a Virginia port, however I cannot find the documents to prove that. The family was great friends with the Flanagan family and all of the boys worked on their quarry at some point in their lives.
