They moved back and forth from Calloway County in 1850 to Vicksburg, MS in 1860. It was handed down that in the 1870's they moved back to Kentucky. James Madison Wells' son Vines Monroe Clifton Wells (my great grandfather) was born 1853 in Mayfield, Kentucky. He was an attorney & went to school in Lebanon, Tennesee. It was handed down that his (M.C. Wells) great-grandfather was Chief Justice of Kentucky back in 1800;s but I have found no Wells as such through online searching. I'm thinking this William Wells listed with him in 1850 Census must be his brother and he was 16 at the time and it was only them two listed on that household. I have found J. M. Wells' grave at Cedar Hills Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
