I am researching an important item of scrimshaw I own, which shows his name as well as the name of his ship "Dove" whaler from Greenport and it appears to date to about 1840. His boat is mentioned later (and briefly) in 1854 in connection with the search by Captain Sir Edward Belcher of the British Navy for the Sir John Franklin expedition which was lost in the arctic in the 1840s.
