    3. Orin, According to the 1890-1891 city directory for Zanesville, there was a William Wells who sold furniture, listed at 25 N. Fifth St. (same as the ad) with a second location at 81 N. Sixth St. Barbara ________________________________ From: Orin Wells <orinwells@wells.org> To: wells@rootsweb.com; littlewells@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, February 4, 2012 6:03 PM Subject: [WELLS] Wells Furniture Store Does anyone know anything about a furniture store that used to be or maybe is still located in Zanesville, Ohio called Wells Furniture (and Carpet)?  Someone refinishing a bookcase that I would guess may have been sold around the turn of the century (20th) found on the back a sticker indicating it had been sold by the Wells' Furniture and Carpet Company in Zanesville, Ohio.  On the sticker it says "BIG STORE"  "WE SELL FOR LESS" I am wondering who founded that store, when it operated and when it went out of business or was sold and to whom. I can't find anything on it. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WELLS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. There was a William and his wife Margaret that I have been trying to track in Ohio. Why have I been tracking? Trying to see if I can link him to my Jane Wells Hallowell. Jane born 1787 and William born ca 1782 both in PA. Both in Short Creek Quaker Meeting and both lived in Morgan County for awhile. Now back to William Wells In 1799 and 1800 he is a pioneer coming into Ohio near Wheeling VA. ( Have seen two records showing him in that area.) I then track him in Quaker records for Concord meeting and Stillwater Quaker meetings of Belmont County, Ohio and Short Creek meeting I believe in Harrison County, Ohio. In 1804 he joins Concord meeting at his request. In 1805 his wife Margaret and son Levi join at their request. He had sons Levi and John and WM and Margaret have a girl Sarah Gilbert who was in their care in 1825, per Quaker meeting records. Loss in Quaker records after 1825. In the 1850 census of Morgan County, Ohio in Malta twp I find him as a 68 year old man born PA and both of his sons and families living in Morgan County, Ohio. John has a son William 2 and Levi has a son John age 22. Could one of these two Wiiliams be the owner as Zaneville is above Morgan County isn't it? (I'm not from Ohio so not sure.)
