In all 3 records she was referred to as Betty and not Elizabeth. 1. January 2, 1792 John Starling of Robeson gave to his son William his grist mill and all his lands on the Indian Swamp containing 4 tracts. Also a Negro woman named Bess, one yoke of oxen, six head of other cattle. He also gave 2 head of horses, one called Blue Tom and the other a Philly. Also, 40 head of hogs and 2 head of sheep, only reserving to his loving wife Betty the one half of the profits arising from his grist mill during her widowhood [Robeson Co. Deed Bk B p. 346]. 2. Item, I give & bequeath my daughter Betty Starling one ewe & lamb after her mother's death [Stephen Wells Will Edgecombe Co. NC as submitted to court in April 1775. 3. Birth of Betty Wells daughter of Stephen Wells and Priscilla Wells 30 May 1730 [The Registers of North Farnhan Parish 1663-1814 and Lunenburg Parish 1783-1800 Richmond county, Virginia]
