Sister was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., Feb. 8, 1911, the daughter of Thomas J. and Leila M. (White) Wells. Sister was a resident of St. Margaret's Convent in Uihlein Mercy Center. Sister started, her ministries in 1930 as a Novitiate in Terrytown, N.Y., from 1931 to 1934 she studied music in Gabriels, N.Y., and in 1933 Sister was assistant postmistress in Gabriels. From 1934 to 1949 she was a music teacher at St. John's School in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 1943, Sister earned a Certificate of Art at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., from 1949 to 1951 she was sister superior and music teacher in Brasher Falls, N.Y., from 1951 to 1954 she was assistant Mistress of Novices, Terrytown, N.Y., from 1954 to 1980 Sister taught grade three, four, and five at St. John's School in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 1965, she received her bachelor's degree in education and major in art from Rosary College in Buffalo, N.Y., from 1980 to 1999, Sister was a Pastoral Associate at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 1999 she moved into St. Margaret's Convent, Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. Sister is survived by one sister, Sister M. Emerita R.S.M. of St. Margaret's Convent, Lake Placid, N.Y. She is also survived by four nephews, Edward, Thomas, Joseph and Bernard Wells; and two nieces, Margaret Daby and Ann Marie Suprenant. There are no calling hours. Sister had arranged to donate her body to UVM College of Medicine in Burlington, Vt. A Mass will be held Thursday, April 27, 2006, at noon at Reiss Memorial Chapel in Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. The Rev. James Seymour will be the main celebrant. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, N.Y., is in charge of arrangements.
