If anyone is interested in getting their mitrochondrial DNA tested Relative Genetics will let you do it for a discount equivalent to the current male Y-Chromosome discount. The mtDNA is the DNA that resides outside the cell nucleus and is passed from the mother to all her children. So if you can identify an unbroken maternal line of ancestry you can associate this with others who descend from this ancestry by a maternal line. This is more difficult to do than male ancestry because the surname tends to change each generation - unless the female has children and gives them her father's name of course. This is of interest to some people because it helps identify something about your deep ancestry - i.e from which "daughter" of Eve you are descended. Men can get this test as well. In their case they are actually testing the mtDNA that came down to them from their mother. The deal is with a Sorenson coupon you can get the the HVR1 test for $95 and the HVR1 & HVR2 test for $135. To get the latter discount you will need to go through the Wells project. Contact me if you are interested. Orin R. Wells Wells Family Research Association P. O.
