Wells took place at the Baptist Church on Sunday last, The Rev. E. M. Dunn, of Milton, preaching the funeral discourse. The church was literally packed with people, who came to witness the last sad rites. The masonic fraternity, of which he was a member, took entire charge of the funeral, and came out in large numbers, several from Milton being also in attendance.. There were also large numbers of the Grange (of which order he was a member) in attendance. Mrs. Lizzie W. Gallup, Mr. Wells' eldest daughter, from Detroit Michigan, had been telegraphed for, but arrived too late to see her father alive, but was in town to attend the funeral. The coffin of the deceased was handsomely decorated, one feature of which attracted our notice, being a beautiful wreath, the background of which showed the square and compass emblem of the order, entwined with flowers appropriate to the occasion, which was arranged by Mrs. Gladwyn. Quite a large number joined in the procession to our cemetery. where was witnesssed the appropriate and imposing ceremonies of the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Wells was something over 57 years of age, and had resided in this section but a few years, yet had made many friends during that time. The Masonic fraternity made many friends in their untiring efforts in the care of the deceased during his illness, and after his death attending faithfully to all the necessary details of the burial, providing for everything with a liberal hand. The deceased left three daughters, one of whom was unable to be here, and one son, to mourn his loss. Wisconsin Tobacco Reporter---Edgerton, Wi Rock Co dated 3-28-1879, died 3-21-1879.
