Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cindy (Hubbard) Headen 1900 Census, Pittsylvania Co, VA, Tunstall District: Edward J. Wells b.2/1849, 51 years, married 30 yrs., b.VA, mother and father b.VA, can't read or write, renting. Nancy E., b.11/1852, 47yrs, 12 children with 9 living, b.VA, mother and father b.VA, reads, can't write. Lewis S., b.8/1882, 17yrs. attended school 3 yrs. Willis B., b.5/1884, 16yrs., attended school 3 yrs. Emma E., b.9/1886, 13yrs., attended school 5 yrs. Pocahontas, b.11/1890, 9yrs., attended school 5 yrs. R--(looks like Rorer)J., 1/1893, 7yrs., att. sch. 1 yr. John, b.3/1894, 5yrs. I cannot find Edward or his family on the 1850 - 1880 and 1910 censuses. In 1920, he has remarried and is living in the city of Danville, VA with his wife. His son, Rorrer James (listed as James) and his family are living with Edward. In 1930, Edward is living in the household of Rorrer in Danville, VA. Pitts.Co. Births 1853-96: Chas. T. Wells, M, 11/17/1875 Par: Edward J. and Nannie Emma E. Wells, F, 9/16/1886 Par: E.J. and Nancy Wells Willis B. Wells, F(Mistake), 5/4/1884 Par. E.J. and Nancy Emma Edward Wells married James Silas Shelton on 12/25/1901 (note: my g-grandparents) Lewis Wells married Martha A. Shelton on 12/25/1901 (note: Silas and Martha were siblings.) There was another daughter named Lucy Bet Wells. She was born 16 Apr 1877 and died 24 Jun 1911. She married Oliver Edward Powell on 27 Nov 1892. Pocahontas married a man whose surname was Ferguson and died in Danville, VA in Mar 1973. (per SSDI). Emma Edward (Wells) Shelton had 13 children. My grandmother, Mary Emma (Shelton) Shelton was her second child and oldest daughter. Emma died in May 1922 after the birth of her 13th child, Mildred Neal (Shelton) Hunt, wife of the minister J.D.Hunt,III.

I do not find ANY possibilities for 1850-1860 ... I wonder if he was renamed after a treasured relative died.
