In order to EXPORT EVERYTHING from your family file 1. Go to FILE A. EXPORT FILE a. Choose COPY/EXPORT FAMILY FILE This will bring up a large box with all your family tree files in case you have several as I do. At the bottom of the box you will find two boxes with drop down arrows. The first box says "file name". Skip that and go to the next drop down arrow to go to gedcom . You can also export your file to a particular Family Tree Maker version, but if you are exporting a file to someone who does not use Family Tree Maker you will need to choose gedcom. When you click on Gedcom the file name will automatically be named the file you are currently in. Click on save and then click OK. This will save your entire file as a gedcom. It will usually save in your FTM file unless you designate it somewhere else. If you want to EXPORT SELECTED individuals: 1. Go to FILE A. EXPORT FILE a. Choose SELECTED INDIVIDUALS Then click on the individuals you want to export and follow the sames steps as before. If you want to EXPORT ALL INDIVIDUALS FROM AN OUTLINE DESCENDANT TREE, choose the OLDEST ANCESTOR and create the OUTLINE DESCENDANT REPORT. 1. Go to FILE A. EXPORT FILE a. Export Individuals in the outline descendant tree or B. Export Outline Descendant Tree in Acrobat (this is the only option my program gives me-the other options for this, Plain Text and RTF are grayed out. I have not used this option. I don't know how it would work but the other option works fine. After you export you will follow the same steps as above and use gedcom and export your tree. Then you can just upload your new gedcom to where ever you want it. If you have questions, feel free to e mail me at mbmjlm22@aol.com
