    3. Hmm. This is interesting. I thought I would harvest the information from the initial page of the site noted in the link in case someone recognizes this family from the posted information. It is rather interesting. I thought I may have seen this family as the Miles and Giles struck me as something I had seen before. Possibly in relation to the sinking of the Sutana at the end of the Civil war on April 21, 1865. - turns out I was correct. In fact I just followed the link for Miles on this site and he WAS the one killed as the site shows. I was not certain if we had anyone from this branch of the family test in the DNA study. I knew I corresponded with someone about it. After I checked my files, I found we DID test someone descended from Miles Wells. He is #344 and he matches the descendent of Henry Wells (the father of Isaac) including the several "mutations" that distinguish this branch from the Henry Wells family of Bucks county. See more in the next paragraph. To give credit, the site was posted by Gerry Grovenberg and I am sure that she wouldn't have posted the information if she didn't want it shared. This is only part of the page and larger collection of information on this family, so if you want to see it all go to the link in the original message. Pay particular attention to the Isaac Wells mentioned as the father of John I. Wells. If the information is correct, then Isaac was a son of Henry Wells and Nellie Van Vliet and we HAVE had a participant in the Wells DNA study tested from this family. This is participant #162 and all we know for now is that Henry appeared somehow to be connected to the Henry Wells family of Bucks Co., Pennsylvania b: Cir 1672 (an update from 1666 thanks to work by Marybelle Wells) I am suspecting that since we have several mutations that distinguish the branch from the Henry Wells family that this may actually be a parallel branch at best or a whole different Wells family altogether. Not to pick on Gerry, but the genealogy she has listed for the family above Henry is apparently incorrect since it tracks to the Long Island family of William Wells b: Cir 1608 England. The DNA proves this is not the right answer. I suspect she picked this up from someone else. I don't think we know at this point who the father of this Henry was. HOWEVER, Gerry also posts some VERY interesting information from the public records on this Henry Wells that may be well worth the effort for someone from this family to follow up on. It shows the father of Henry to have been a Zamuel Wells/Willis. The genealogy posted indicates this was Samuel Wells son of Joshua Wells of Long Island. I think if anything is wrong here it may be the association fo Zamuel Wells as being the same man as Samuel Wells. Like I said, they can not be from the same family according to the DNA. So Zamuel Wells has to have been someone else.
