He was born about April 1809 in Orange County, New York. William married Betsey K. SKINNER on 2 June 1832 in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. They lived in Pennsylvania until about 1849, when they moved to Illinois. Around 1856 they moved to Nemaha County, Kansas, where William died 16 December 1893. Betsey died 18 July 1889 in Nemaha County. William and Betsey had the following known children: Adolphus, William F., Abijah, Sallie Ann, Phoebe Jane, Sarah Emmaline, Sylvia L., Betsey Amasella, Charity, Anna, and Frank.
