ROBERT WILLIAM WELLS, 72, of Colorado Springs died Sunday in a local hospital. He was a retired Marine Corps captain. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Lewis Adkison officiating. Burial will be in Dalhart, Texas. Mr. Wells was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Crowell, Texas. His father was Robert A. Wells. He attended schools in Dalhart and was a graduate of Drawns Business College, Amarillo, Texas. He was a 25-year career officer with the Marine Corps, retiring Dec. 31, 1958, with the rank of captain. He attended Circle Drive Baptist Church of Colorado Springs and the Central Methodist Church of Dalhart. He was married May 23, 1968, in Dalhart, to Verna Hays, who survives. Other survivors include an aunt, Sallie Christian of Colorado Springs, and several cousins. A son preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Circle Drive Baptist Church, 801 N.
