Marjorie: Have you tried contacting the Town Historian to see if she might have anything? I have found them to be very helpful. Later children were born around Rochester, NY so he might have, too. I don't know when his father Asahel moved there. The only likely Asa Wells of the right age I can find in 1810 census is in Canaan, Litchfield, CT, with two daughters and a son under 10. However, if Asa kept some of his children from the former marriage, he could be the one in Colchester, New London, CT (11010 and 30010) or Pompey, Onandaga, NY (20010 and 21010). His first wife Caty Wells was still back in Athens, Windham, VT, but with only two daughters under age 10, no sons. In the 1800 census Asa and Caty had two sons and two daughters, hmm, so the two daughters in the 1810 census were born AFTER 1800. So that means he had six children by Caty? Does anyone know about ANY of these 3 Asa Wells in 1810 so I can eliminate one? Does anyone know WHEN the 1810 census was taken? Henry was born in January so I don't know whether he was enumerated or not. I am also looking for Asa's children by Caty, all seemingly born in Athens, VT, between 1791 (marriage date with first wife Caty) and 1805 (marriage date with second wife Nancy).
