My gg uncle Henry (Harry) Wells, b. 1810 and d. after 1880. Don't know where he was born or died, for certain, but he and family were in Prairieville, Barry Co., MI, in 1850 and 1860; Gilmore Twp., Benzie Co., MI in 1870; and Arcadia, Manistee Co., MI in 1880. His daughter Charlotte Adelia married a first cousin, Asahel Nelson Wells in 1860 and enlisted for Civil War from Kalamazoo Co., MI. This was my great discovery this year, after seeing Asahel Nelson reporting he married a cousin, from his Civil War pension file. Heretofore I had assumed Henry had died as a child since no one had any information on him. Anyway, the mystery remains about place of birth and death for Henry. His father was Asahel Wells, born 1772 in Deerfield, MA, died 1829 in unknown, probably Rochester or Chemung Co., NY. Asahel had at least four children by a first wife back in Athens, Windham, VT, between 1791 and 1800 and I don't know any of their names. Then he ?married Nancy Holden in 1805 in unknown place and had another family: Harriet, Eliza Ann, Henry, Nelson, Anson, and Elvira. I descend from Anson and I have his Bible that has dates but no places. Anson did have a son Frederick b. 1841 PA, who left 3 children before dying early. One of them was a Fred, and I have been unable to find if he left any family. So when I needed Wells family DNA, I looked to descendents of Nelson and that grandson gave his DNA and he proved to be related to Thomas Wells who married Francis Albright. But I am still looking for descendents of Fred, born in the 1880s. He had sisters, Lizzie, b. 1877, and Ida, b. 1870. I did find Ida married Albert V. Harvey and they moved to California. If living, their sons Albert and Frederick would be in their nineties by now. Hope someone knows something more about these families.
