Today I thought I had hit on something. In looking into some music history I can across the fact that the Christmas song "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" was written by Mel Torme and Robert Wells. I had never heard of a composer named Robert Wells. His credits, it turns out, included (he died 23 Sept 1998) "From Here to Eternity", "Born to be Blue", "Magic Town", "Re-Enlistment Blues", "When Joanna Loved Me". OK, so we may not recognize them all. He appears to have collaborated with Mel Torme on many of the over 250 songs Mel wrote. He was the head writer and producer for The Dinah Shore Chevy Hour and much more. Many of us would be delighted to find out he is a relative. But, alas, as it is often the case in Hollyweird his birth name was Robert Levinson b: 15 Oct 1922. Orin R. Wells Wells Family Research Association P. O.
