He came to England with William the Conqueror and is thought to be Flemish but I haven't been able to find a surname other than Welles (for the area where he settled.) I have his wife listed as Meredith Verch Myrrdin (Verch = girl, Myrrdin = Merlin in Welsh.) He had to have been born earlier if you look at the dates of birth of their children. I know they married young but I don't believe he father a child at 7. There are a couple of stories about him on Ancestry. His name is spelled Rademer in most of the references. I got most of my data on the early Welles' from www.stirnet.com, www.thepeerage.com. and www.domesdaybook.co.uk. Hope this helps.
