Maybe I'm trying to make this harder than it is. Let me clarify by saying I'm talking about the tree in Ancestry.com. It grows by starting with myself and then adding my parents. I'm in the process of starting all over (because of the duplications!) from a tree I began which now has about 1400 individuals in it! My new tree now has about 189 names, but I've been watching the list as I've entered the data and the duplications didn't start until I got to my two Wells brothers, Jasper Mashburn & Erastus Posey Wells (my great-grandfathers). So...should I have begun with just one of my parents, adding all the data when I got to my two great-grandfathers as brothers on let's say my father's side. Then when I added my mother's side and I got to her grandfather, would I pull him from the tree, rather than typing it in myself? Does Ancestry let you do that? I haven't had any problems in my FamilyTreeMaker software with the duplications, and it does have the capability to merge families. I appreciate your time and willingness to help me in this.
