He was a graduate of the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Texas and a business owner of Wellsco, Inc. Telecom Services, Wellsco Graphic Solutions. He was retired from General Telephone and was a member of East Side Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a board member of American State Bank, a board member of Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and president of the Greene County Endowment Foundation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Josie Blakely Wells; and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Anne Cummings Wells of Paragould; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James B. Wells and David and Carrie Dawn Wells, all of Paragould; two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and William Landers and Cheri and Chris Cone, all of Paragould; two brothers, LINWOOD WELLS of Paragould and Lavon Wells of Duncanville, Texas; one sister, Erma Lou Lucius of Bullard, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Landers, Carrie Landers, Elizabeth Landers, Ashleigh Wells, Bryce Wells, Carson Cone and Conner Cone. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church in Paragould with the Rev. Greg Addison and the Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will be in Greene County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Paragould. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church, 529 E. Court St., Paragould; or to Arkansas Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries, P.O. Box 552, Little Rock, AR, 72203.
