    2. This is so very interesting. I have been looking for Dolphin Wells for years but lost him in Louisiana and his family in Arkansass. It might be Adolphis also. If you ever find it let me know. Thanks and good luck to you. Anna Wells Lenoir -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, Nov 26, 2009 8:41 am Subject: [WELLS] Found Some Wells Family Well, I haven't found some folks I have been looking for, but a few weeks go I finally connected with a Wells family member. y father, George Pennelton Wells, had a son in a prior marriage, before he arried my mother. They divorced after a son had been born, Warner ennelton Wells a/k/a Corky. My brothers and I never knew Corky. He was born round 1933-1935. When I was at a major genealogy conference in Orlando in eptember 2003 (I think it iwas), a Florida genealogist and private nvvestigator sitting at my table asked me who I wanted to find that I couldn't in. I old him I would like to find a half-brother that I had never met. I gave im the information that I had. About a half hour after our luncheon, he was ooking for me as he had found my half-brother. owever, the bad news was that he had died -- exactly 5 years to the day, eptember 5, 1998. He then provided me with some additional information on ne of Corky's sons. However, I was never able to get a response from him. few weeks ago, I was digging in again on this family because a first ousin I had never known was located, and she provided me information on Corky nd some of his family, along with my first pictures of Corky as a youngster nd Corky married with 4 children, and my Granmother and other family embers. That was pretty exciting. However, that information got burried in wo oves after that information was located. I decided to concentrate on the ames of the two other sons. Bingo! I found several names in an online hone book and began calling on Sunday afternoon. I left several messages and hile leavving the last one, all of a sudden the phone was answered. s I began explaining who I was and naming names, he said, yes, Corky was is father. Actually, Corky adopted him and his brother whenthey were very oung - about 1 and 3 years of age, he being the youngest. We began talking bout other information, that my father was Corky's father and he thought I ad the wrong person; however, he couldn't deny that his youngest brother, rad, had the same middle name as my father, Pennelton. That was the lincher. then, of course, I found out that much information that he had about orky's father was not true. He proceeded to tell me that the story he knew as that his adopted father was an orphan, that his dad's father worked on a oat on the Mississippi River, and other things that I had never heard of. hen Gary took this information to his mother, she could not believe that I as right. I had pictures that were sent to me by my father's niece (my irst cousin). I scanned those pictures that were of Corky and his wife Gary's mother), Gary's blood brother, and Corky's natural son, Brad and aughter heryl. Gary was thrilled to receive the pictures and told me that he had ust in the last few years met his biological father, but that he had always nown Corky as his father an he conwidered himself a Wells all of his life, o he was thrilled to meet me on the phone. e have now keep up communication between each other - my "new" nephew and is "aunt" (he is 3 years younger than me), and now we talk on the phone for n hour or two at a time. e says his mother doesn't recognize herself in the pictures I sent; but he is in her mid 70's now, so he thinks she just doesn't remember. When he ointed out to his mother, "well then, I'm wondering if that isn't you, Mom, ho is that woman with your husban and your 4 kids when we were little?" o, this year has brought me a new family member. Gary has sent the pictures scanned to his brothers and sister, and it doesn't seem to mean too much o them at this time; maybe eventually it will. ut I feel fortunate and thankful to have found a new family member who oes want to connect, so I just wanted to share that with the mail list, specially since my line of Wells have been very difficult to trace. n that note, I'll post once again, if anyone is related to: ickman Pendleton Wells, b. September 1829, MS arried to Martha Ann Scott, b. 1841 MO (descended from a line of a Scott amily who is a Rev. War soldier) lease get in touch with me. hanks and have a happy holiday season. enise Wells outhern Florida ------------------------------ o unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] ith the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of he message
