I, Henry Smith Wells, of the Township of Escott in the County of Leeds in the Province of Canada, Yeoman, being weak in body but perfect in mind and memory, . . . I leave and bequeath to my beloved wife, Nancy (insert Patterson) Wells, my possession and messuge in the Broken Front of the Township of Escott in the County and Province aforesaid. I also leave and bequeath to my said wife, Nancy Wells, that parcel or tract of land contained in my possession on LaRue Island in the River St. Lawrence and now constituting part of the Township of Leeds and Landsdown Front, in the County and Province aforesaid, being that part of said LaRue Island, purchased by me . . . in case my son Amaziah Wells, shall pay to my said wife Nancy Wells, on or before the first day of November next, the sum of $25. currency, it is my will and desire that my said possession on LaRue Island should go to my said son . . . on payment of the said sum of $25. . .
