Jim, The two you cited from Ohio were from the "Little Wells" Family. This is W008 - one of the ones you don't match. There are a couple of possiblities when the DNA does not match. 1. You have an ancestor who changed his name, was adopted or resulted form a "roll in the hay". Unless you trip over someone else with a different surname who matches you, we have no idea if this is a possiblity. 2. This a Wells family we have not seen via any other descendent yet. Since we have not seen them yet, it is pretty hard to speculate here. But we do know that a LOT of different Wells families passed through Ohio - many still have descendents there. In fact, if you search in DNA.Ancestry.com there ARE some very close matches who are not Wells. Whether one of them has some meaning could only be determined by contacting the person who submitted the DNA for testing. The names I see are: Michael Anthony Wright - Perfect match Stuart Whiteeagle Ackley - one deviation Walter Wiley Chisholm - one deviation David B. Haynes - one deviation (same as Chisholm) There are several others who only tested at "33" markers that I wouldn't spend much time looking at. The problem with Ancestry is there are no indications of where the ancestors originated without asking the participant. If you are not sure how to check your DNA against the Ancestry data, write me off list and I will give you the username and password.
