I am particularly interested in his son Shaler Wells and grandson Shaler Wells who resided in Warren County, New York once it was separated from Washington County about 1820. My great grandmother was Rachel Anna Wells born in 1832 5o Ira Wells and Elizabeth Harrin Ovitt. I am trying to determine if Ira is the brother to Shaler Wells, Sr. or if he was the son of one of Joseph's children. Joseph's other sons were Timothy, Joseph, and Henry. It turns out that the Ovit family also came from the East Haddam, Middlesex and Hebron, Tolland areas in Connecticut. I have always wondered what drew all of the Fullers to Berkshire County, Massachusetts and the eastern counties of New York. It turns out that they were just part of the wave of people associated family members leaving Connecticut after the Revolution. These associated families include Rowley, Loomis, Olmstead, Gates, Wells, Day, and Ovit. Over and over the children of these families married. So I guess if you meet someone with one of these surnames from this part of Connecticut, you are very likely a cousin, and possibly many times over.
