William Legrand Wells I believe was the first child born to James and Charlotte. I have only an approximate date of birth for William's wife, Margaret Marshall <1827> WV. Date of birth for William is 12/13/1827 - does this agree with your data? Children born to William & Margaret were Eliza J <1849>, West Virginia <5/25/1863>, Ida Bell<8/8/1866>, James <1870> and Emma <1874>. As you can see, my information on Williams family is very limited. If you can fill me in I'd be ever so pleased!!! Earlier this year, when I had a paid membership with Ancestry, I received information that James had served in the Civil War. I'm still recovering (physically and financially)from a medical incident that occurred in January so have not been able to order a copy of James CW file. I'm in hopes that some information related to James and Charlotte might be included in those files . . . Forgive my stupidity, but is Bellaire in OH? I NEVER assume!!! Tracking my Wells Ancestor, Albert Jefferson Wells, via census reports has been challenging because he often used the name of "Jeff", "Al" and "Albert" along with the name of Welch!!! I'm now begining to think the idea of the name change may have been that of his wife, Lucretia, but since there is nothing left of any family data I'm just guessing. The information I was able to put together all came from his Civil War files. According to those files in statements made by my ancestor he added two children to the family that had not been included in previous statements. In all of the legal documents he used the name of Wells but these two children, now a part of his family, were listed as Welch children (a boy and a girl) . . . I do have a photo of the wife and some of the children of Thomas Van Buren Wells. Lucinda Purdum Vermillion gave birth to 10 children that I know of. Thomas died in 1899 but Lucinda lived on until 1942. With all those children, each having large families of their own, I'd hoped to have had more of a response related to this research. How about you? Look forward to hearing from you again soon. Leslie (AZ) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
