    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: brucetrousdale Surnames: Wells Taylor Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wells/4954.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There are some interesting interconnections with your search and my searches. I am afraid I have very little to contribute to you. I believe that Amasa Wells second wife was my widowed 4th great Grandmother Mrs. Tamer Joyce. Still in search for her maiden name. Her daughter my 3rd Great Grandmother Sally Maroxa Joyce married Harmon Warner. There was a period of time when some of what I believe are orphan Wells children living with some of the Taylor families. With Tamer Wells age at 67 and the children Chester Wells age 14 and Charles Wells age 11. I believe the children may be grand children of Amasa Wells and Sarah Lewis. The other connection I hope you might shed some light on is Benjamin Taylor. Wonder if he might be a brother of your Taylor 1. BENJAMIN TAYLOR* was born 26 May 1787 in Groton, New London Co, CT, and died 11 September 1860 in Rome, Bradford Co, PA. He married BATHSHEBA JANES* 24 April 1811. She was born 15 November 1786 in Brimfield, MA or Springfield, MA, and died 21 December 1876 in Rome, Bradford Co, PA. Notes for BENJAMIN TAYLOR*: Benj. not listed in New London in 1800 Census. (BWT) Benj. listed in Wysox Twp. Bradford Co, PA in 1820 Census. (BWT) 1832 Local Tax Assessment: 50 Acres of Improved Land 100 Acres of unimproved land; 1 house,1 horse, 2 oxen, 2 cows By the standards which were present in the township these assessment was third or fourth highest. Godfrey Vought 80 and 150 acres was highest. 1833 holdings are much the same; ranking drops to about 7th highest assessment. Lived in CT prior to moving to Rome, PA. Cooper by trade in 1850 tax value of 3,000 Census of 1850 has Chester Wells age 14, Son Almerin Taylor has Charles Wells age 11, Edwin Taylor has Tamer Wells f. age 67 Conn Militia Index shows - a Benj Taylor Sergt.
