I found this information on Ransford ... perhaps you can fill in the rest of the family for me. It indicates he is descended from Gov Thomas Welles of Weathersfield, CT who's DNA family is W015 (see http://www.wells.org for study .. or DNAancestry.com ). My cousin is also in Wells DNA family W015 so I am anxious to add to our tree. The pastor and the church, or, Rev. John H. Duryea, D.D., and the Second Reformed Church at Paterson, N.J. Theodore Wyckoff Wells Board of Publication of the Reformed Church in America, 1896 - 172 pages p95 Rev. Ransford Wells, D. D., was a descendant in the 6th genetation of Thomas Welles, an English Puritan, who fled to America, because of persecutions by the Church of England, in 1636, and was Governor of Connecticut in 1655 and 58. Dr. Welles was born at Catskill, N. Y., Sept. 6th. 1805, and died at Philadelphia, Pa., March 4th, i88i). He graduated from Rutgers College, 1827, and from the Theological Seminary at New Brunswick, N. J., 1830. He was a son of Elijah Wells and Mary Allaben, a descendant through his mother of John Bouton, a French Huguenot, who rled to America in 1633, and died at Danbury, Ct., 1704.
