I think someone grabbed a handy death date with the same name. One isn't right. As to your earliest ancestor, hate to tell you this but there is NO Essex, Lancashire England and the Thomas Wells to whom your "link" didn't die in Colchester, Essex England in 1620 at least I challenge someone to prove that. Before you claim him you will need to go find some proof. I would be interested in seeing the next level down from this Thomas you figure is your ancestor. If you don't know who the father of Joseph was (in the back of my mind I am thinking his father might have not even been Wells) how do you know you link to any earlier Wells?
