The probability of two men with 'close' names being born about the same time in the same time and dying exactly the same day and location ... is kind of hard to believe. I run across all the time where two different researchers will find a death or birth of a person with the same name and in the same location and approximately the same time and ASSUME it is the same person. It is most prevalent when two guys with the same name descended from two different sets of parents end up marrying the same woman ... and many have the same death. They have just confused two people in their research. My advice is to do research on both until you can knock one out of the running.
