Hi Jane Binham and Benham seems to be a local thing. Occasionally Binham is put down as Benham in the Oxford area, I suspect that which you use may vary with the part of the country you originate from. We're all greiving because Lady Bonita's computer died on her and she lost everything she had on the hard drive. We haven't heard when the memorial service will be held, but I'm sure it'll be an In-Memoriam cause she probably buried the dern thang in the city dump. Tom Evans (A Wells from Indiana)

The website has excerpts from Dr. Spencer Wells' book. Though Haplogroup G seems to have originated in the Indus Valley, what I found interesting was how the percentages differ in different parts of Europe. While "Across northwestern Europe, G haplotypes occur at a low frequency, 1-3%. In the Republic of Georgia (Caucasus Mountains south of Russia, north of Turkey) members of G make up as much as 30% of the population. There are 14% on the island of Sardinia, 10% in north central Italy, 8% in northern Spain, almost 7% in Turkey, and lesser percentages in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Lebanon, Greece, Hungary, Albania, Croatia, and Ethiopia. G is still represented in the Middle East--some of these are Arab, some are Jews, many are neither." Perhaps our original Wells ancestor was a Roman legionnaire stationed in Britain during the short time it was part of the Roman Empire. Nice theory, too bad there's no way to prove it. :-) Patricia ----- Original Message ----- From: <seawillie1@juno.com> To: <WELLS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2005 1:46 PM Subject: Re: [WELLS-L] National Geographic Genographic Project > Thanks for the site, Pat.
