    3. Yes, I see what you mean. I have seen several with just the 25/26 marker that they could go a couple ways ... but, the only way to separate is having the additional 12 markers. Unfortunately, the copy of the bible entry is very hard to read and all I am sure of is the first character has an upstroke .. like A or S .. then the third character has a downstroke like a Y or P, then "heus" ... so I thought maybe Slyvens or Alpheus. -----Original Message----- From: Fredgene29@cs.com [mailto:Fredgene29@cs.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2005 2:10 PM To: WELLS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WELLS-L] Re: WELLS-D Digest V05 #325 I do have a Alpheus however I do not think we click. 3. Robert: Boy, this all sounds so familiar. I was helping a researcher (before my computer crash) and we found quite a bit of information on Joachim, his wife .. I thought her maiden name was Bunker / Bonker or something like that ... after Joachim died, she married a Samuel(?) Woodard or Woodward. My memory is like swiss cheese but we found most of the information around Albany Co., NY ... and another county in NY. Unfortunately I lost all this data with the crash, but maybe the BUNKER or BONKER name will kick loose some memories for someone else -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of robertlwells@hotmail.com Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2005 8:49 AM To: WELLS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WELLS-L] Re: George Wells This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Johnson accompanies article) A smart appearance, nice manners, and the ability to charm others is not primarily the purpose of the Aviation Cadet program. A man is judged on what he accomplishes. Excuses just are not acceptable. Therefore, when thinking of M.I.A., rather than recalling Joe Goodegg who was a smooth dancer—let us think of and pay tribute to the men who have gone through here and proven to the world that once given the opportunity and training they had what it takes. It is with this thought in mind that this, the final issue of “Propwash,” is dedicated to Capt. R. L. Johnson, Class of 42-F, the first American pilot in this war to break Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker’s record of enemy planes destroyed in combat. For his achievements, Capt. Johnson has been awarded the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. HONOR ROLL Hall of Fame – Missouri Institute of Aeronautics In addition to Capt. Johnson many other outstanding pilots have graduated here. It is impossible to list all the deeds and exploits of the men passing through, so we have selected as best we could a representative cross-section. Naturally these men are graduates of early classes, but where they leave off, new men will carry on. For the following information the staff is indebted to Lt. J. H. Bowser, the Post Historian. 3. Can anyone identify the James Wells who appears in the Lilburn area Gwinnett Co., Georgia in the 1830 census? I have found his participation in the founding of two Primitive Baptist churches, but can't find anything else especially helpful. Seems James was b. about 1765 and was married to a Prodence or Prudence Wells. This James could conceivably be the same one who appears in Laurens Co., SC in 1800 and 1810, but that is pure guesswork. 3. Today I thought I had hit on something. In looking into some music history I can across the fact that the Christmas song "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" was written by Mel Torme and Robert Wells. I had never heard of a composer named Robert Wells. His credits, it turns out, included (he died 23 Sept 1998) "From Here to Eternity", "Born to be Blue", "Magic Town", "Re-Enlistment Blues", "When Joanna Loved Me". OK, so we may not recognize them all. He appears to have collaborated with Mel Torme on many of the over 250 songs Mel wrote. He was the head writer and producer for The Dinah Shore Chevy Hour and much more. Many of us would be delighted to find out he is a relative. But, alas, as it is often the case in Hollyweird his birth name was Robert Levinson b: 15 Oct 1922. Orin R. Wells Wells Family Research Association P. O.
