Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SCWBAIB/4434 Message Board Post: Hi my name is Jeff Wells and I am new. I am sure through DNA testing that Henry Wells, born in pennsylvania around 1666, is an ancestor of mine. It has been identified that Henry was a Son of Edmond and Mary Wells. They had several sons that came over from England (Bradfield, Berkshire) and Henry is one of them. Can anyone link Henry Wells to my family. My earliest finding is Thomas Wells born 1620 in VA and died 1682. Thanks Jeff
This should come to you when they receive the kit. When did you send it to them? We can use a coupon from our pool and you can pass on your code when you get it. Are you ready for the Relative Genetics Kit? If so, I will order it sent to you. Hey Orin, I got my Sorenson DNA test sent back in, but they didn't say anything about a coupon. How do I get that and then get my other DNA test done, as mentioned before. The mtDNA is the DNA that resides outside the cell nucleus and is passed from the mother to all her children. So if you can identify an unbroken maternal line of ancestry you can associate this with others who descend from this ancestry by a maternal line. This is more difficult to do than male ancestry because the surname tends to change each generation - unless the female has children and gives them her father's name of course. This is of interest to some people because it helps identify something about your deep ancestry - i.e from which "daughter" of Eve you are descended. Men can get this test as well. In their case they are actually testing the mtDNA that came down to them from their mother. The deal is with a Sorenson coupon you can get the the HVR1 test for $95 and the HVR1 & HVR2 test for $135. Charles, What time period are you talking about with Hugh? Joy Joy McNally
Hi, Joy, Thank you for responding. My Wells line is Hugh James Wells, Iola, Grimes Co, TX. He married Elizabeth Johnson. I might have more descendants of his, but I have no idea where they might be. It is a hard family to tract down. If you descend from Grimes Co. Wells, I am sure we are related. Charles Darby
Hi Charles, I am related to Kim, and we have been doing Wells research together. Grimes County was once part of Walker County, or wait, Walker used to be part of Grimes County. We descend from John Wells b. Maryland supposedly, and he was married to Lydia Collier. Is this the line you are from? If so, I would love to correspond with you. If not, we might still be able to help each other. Look forward to hearing from you. Joy McNally

Wells took place at the Baptist Church on Sunday last, The Rev. E. M. Dunn, of Milton, preaching the funeral discourse. The church was literally packed with people, who came to witness the last sad rites. The masonic fraternity, of which he was a member, took entire charge of the funeral, and came out in large numbers, several from Milton being also in attendance.. There were also large numbers of the Grange (of which order he was a member) in attendance. Mrs. Lizzie W. Gallup, Mr. Wells' eldest daughter, from Detroit Michigan, had been telegraphed for, but arrived too late to see her father alive, but was in town to attend the funeral. The coffin of the deceased was handsomely decorated, one feature of which attracted our notice, being a beautiful wreath, the background of which showed the square and compass emblem of the order, entwined with flowers appropriate to the occasion, which was arranged by Mrs. Gladwyn. Quite a large number joined in the procession to our cemetery. where was witnesssed the appropriate and imposing ceremonies of the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Wells was something over 57 years of age, and had resided in this section but a few years, yet had made many friends during that time. The Masonic fraternity made many friends in their untiring efforts in the care of the deceased during his illness, and after his death attending faithfully to all the necessary details of the burial, providing for everything with a liberal hand. The deceased left three daughters, one of whom was unable to be here, and one son, to mourn his loss. Wisconsin Tobacco Reporter---Edgerton, Wi Rock Co dated 3-28-1879, died 3-21-1879.
