    1. Re: WELLS-D Digest V06 #47
    2. My great-grandmother was Margaret Ann Wells Long and she and my great- grandfather, James Kent Freeman, were married in Navasota, Tx., which, I understand, is Grimes County. I have not been able to find any information on her beyond the wedding announcement I have, dated August, 1898. I called the Clerk of the Circuit Court to confirm the marriage, and they could not find a record of it and I cannot read the name of the clergy that married them. I am at a dead-end with her. Would the name happen to sound familiar? Maybe she had family in the area? She was born in Jackson Co, FL. They later moved to Houston, where she lived until her death in 1925. ----- Original Message ----- From: WELLS-D-request@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, February 28, 2006 5:35 pm Subject: WELLS-D Digest V06 #47 To: WELLS-D@rootsweb.com > WELLS-D Digest Volume 06 : Issue 47 > > Today's Topics: > #1 Re: [WELLS-L] Wells in Grimes Co. 3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Bella WELLS of St. Louis, Missouri which was taken at the F. W. Guerin Studio in St. Louis. The photograph was probably taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Bella likely in her early teens at the time. In addition to this photograph I've also recovered others belonging to the EDGAR and BARTEL Families for Missouri and Illinois from the same source. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

I know he had numerous children and I'm hoping someone out there might be in the same boat I am...looking for family members. Or have any info on his/my family. I want so much to meet and know another part of me. Thanks again Nancy for your time and effort, it really means a lot. Karyn PS by the way...did you get that info off the VA cemetery web site? Very interesting..I didn't know you could do that. I printed that info just to save. I didn't know when he enlisted in the Navy, nor did I know when he was discharged. Thanks

My grandfather is James Washington Wells who was born in 1886 in Edmondson County Kentucky. His wife was Mary Alice Long. James' father was Isaac Wells Born in 1853 also in Edmonson County Kentucky and he was married to Luisa Madora Houchins. Isaac Wells is the son of Joseph Wells who was born in 1821 in Butler, Kentucky and married to Elizabeth Johnson. We believe that Joseph's father was John Wells born in 1792 or therabouts who was married to a Lydia Johnson (oddly the same last name as his son's wife). John Wells came from somewhere in North Carolina but it is there that we go no further and we aren't really sure if John is really Joseph's father. I have nothing that "proves" that to me. Somehow, somewhere we reconnect to Henry Wells in Pennsylvania through DNA markers......Does this help???????

My brick wall ancester is John Wells, born 1792 in North Carolina, married 28 of March 1811 in Barren Kentucky to a Lydia Johnson and died about 1870. One of his sons was Joseph Wells, born 1821 in Butler Kentucky and who later died in Edmondson, Kentucky in 1887. We have been told that Joseph E. Wells might be John Wells' father but we have no information about Joseph E Wells from North Carolina that seems to confirm this and we certainly don't know anything about Joseph E Wells' ancestors nor who he connects to Henry Wells of Bucks County Pennsylvania fame but to whom somehow I am related through DNA testing. my regards, Jeff Wells Innonut@aol.com, or 303 888 9785

He came to America in 1684. He is known to have had nine sons born from about 1691 through 1714, all in Pennsylvania. The lines of several of his sons are very well researched right down to the present day. Others are not as well documented, although information does exist. What would be helpful would be if you could provide the name, date, and location of the earliest documented ancestor whose line you can prove led directly to you. Without that information it will not be possible for anyone to help you link up to the right family. There are quite a number of people with information on this line, so you will surely be able to get help if you can provide information on your brick wall ancestor.
