He was born in 1857. I have been trying out links to anyone born around the same time he was, even the 1860 census, but there is nothing there, unless his name was not posted on Ancestry's census links. Sometimes that happens. Ancestry does not post all who are living in a household. So, even if they are there, if the correct person is not clicked on, you won't find the one that you need to find.

    3. Hello, Barbara The parents of the Robert Wells who married Amy Jones were James Wells and Rachel Horn (my great great grandparents). James Wells was born in Delaware, probably in Kent County). He married Rachel Horn in 1787, probably in either Rowan Co.or Surry Co., NC. Rachel Horn was a daughter of Thomas Horn and Sarah Moffett. James Wells died in Rowan Co., NC in 1810. Rachel died in Silver Creek Twp., Clark Co., IN, sometime after 1830. James Wells' father was also named James Wells. His mother has not yet been identified. The father was born in Kent Co., DE in 1727 and died in Surry Co., NC in 1810. Amy Jones was a daughter of Josiah Jones and Mary Wells (do not know whether Mary Wells was related to James Wells). Robert Wells and Amy Jones were married in Tennessee on 24 Dec 1826. They had moved to Madison Co., IL before 1830 and went to Greene Co., IL in the early 1830's. Robert Wells died on 3 Oct 1853 and Amy Jones died in 1875. Both were buried in the Patterson Cemetery in Greene Co., IL. Lots of others who were ither laborers or fireman lodged there also ... all within the same 10-year age bracket surrounding Herbert's age (he was abt 23 at the time). I was just looking for more info on the others. I've turned into quite the relative-hoarder. :o) I did a little research and it turns out that there was a Influenza outbreak in 1851 and a Yellow Fever outbreak in 1852, so I guess it sould be either, really. 3 kids in 10 days - I can't even begin to fathom the despair of something like that happening! On a brighter note, YES, my brother finally consented to the test and Orin is having the kit sent out to him today. My mother is going to oversee the whole thing so there can be no procrastination on my brother's part. :o) I guess we'll know in a few months? I have no idea what the expectation should be for the results, but we'll just be as patient as we have for about 10 or so years now. My mom and I are far more excited than my brother is, but he doesn't understand that he may very well have the answer to our puzzles hidden in his DNA. Amazing stuff! Erin

As well as my ancestor Nathaniel Crowder's record, I have found a Matthew Wells married a Sarah Wells on 22 September 1751. They were from St James Westminster. I don't have any other information - but this may help someone. Actually, hoping somewhere along the line that it may belong to me as one of my great uncles was a Frederick Matthew Wells.
