    1. Re: [WELLS-L] Elizabeth Wells nee Bridge
    2. I am looking for any information on Elizabeth Wells (Bridge), her ancestors, or her son Alfred K. Wells. Elizabeth was a resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from 1873-about 1963. She was a US Citizen (perhaps born in NY), also married in Michigan to Robert Wells. Alfred K. Wells may have been married to Annie Messer, who may have been from Michigan. Records are scarce and there is some conflicting information. I am the grand-daughter of Alfred K. and the great-grand-daughter of Elizabeth. My father, William Alfred Wells, died in 1947 in Toronto and I have been unable to find information about Alfred K. (his father) or his family. Any information would be most appreciated. M. Wells

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SCWBAIB/2098.1.1.2.1.1.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: The marriage record listed at: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/MarriageSearchServlet indicates that John J. Coonrod married Elizabeth Edmonston on 22 May 1857 in Schuyler Co., IL. According to my research, I have John being born in Indiana and Elizabeth being born in North Carolina. John J.'s parents were supposedly George W. Coonrod andLavina Harrison both from KY and was one of 11 children born to George and Lavina. Is this the family that you're tracking? How do you know that John was supposedly born in Germany? My notes indicate that this family traces back to Lancaster County, PA, so perhaps that's where the Germany ties in. I apologize for not having more information, but this is a lateral line for me and I have not pursued it beyond the direct lineage. Let me know if I can be of more help. Donna

    1. Nicholas WELLS Land Purchases
    2. Peggy Kopp
    3. According to the BLM GLO Records, in 1835 Nicholas WELLS purchased 2 40-acre plots of land in Lucas County, OH. They are Document Nos. 3818 and 868. In 1837 he purchased a 40-acre plot in Monroe County, MI, Document No. 5207. The 3 plots were located in the Michigan-Toledo Strip and were issued through the Monroe Co., MI Land Office. Around that time a border issue between Ohio and Michigan was taking place. In my attempts to pin down exactly where these plots were located I have been unable to find a plat map of the Strip (which I understand became Lucas Co., OH). The location of these land purchases is of particular interest because they are so close to where my gr grandfather, Charles W. WELLS, married Lizzie SCHAIBLE in Washtenaw Co., MI in 1869, and then settled in Jackson Co., MI. Does anyone have WELLS who might have settled in the Monroe Co., MI and Lucas Co., OH areas? I have been searching 1840-50 censuses and have come across some WELLS, but no Nicholas WELLS in these counties. Peggy Riggs Kopp

I was able to access the site late last night. I found that they had a glitch which prevented many people from being able to log on most of the time. I did not search for Wells as I don't have enough information on my line to be accurate. I have more information on another line but still was not able to come up with anything at this time. I had sent an e mail to their helpdesk and received a reply this morning and understand from that they perhaps they will allow free access again some time. Let's watch for that.
