Author: ROBERTWELLS37 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wells/5135/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Does anybody have a history on a John and Desire Wells and their children? >From the Vital records of Greenfield, Massachusetts to the year 1850 p. 170 "Greenfield Marriages" Elliot (See Elliott), Desire and John Wells of Deerfield March, 18, 1781,* P.R.I., >From "History of the Connecticut Valley in Massachusetts, Volume II," by Louis H. Everts, 1879: Betweem 1784 and 1788 John Wells with Desire, his wife, and their children, David and Sena, from Springfield, Vt. were some of the founders of the town. Although this History of the Connecticut Valley says John and Desire were from Springfield, VT, they may have first been from Deerfield RI. although the only Deerfield I can find is in MA. An LDS Family Group Record of John Wells and Desire Elliott Wells family lists 9 children Horace b. 1785, Martha b. 1787, John b. 1816, George b. 1791, Sophia b. 1793, Edward b. 1795, Joseph b. 1797 and twins Mary and Rebecca b. 1799. According to this record John died around 07 February, 1799, the same year the twins were born. Note according to the LDS record there is no mention of the children named David and Sena as mentioned in the History of the Connecticut Valley. I am interested in particular of tracing down the Son named Joseph b 1797 to where that goes. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Seems like too much of a coincidence not to be our Lucy Wells' family. Your cousin David Lee Johnson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I think his parents were Henry Thomas Wells born about 1844 in Indiana and his mother was Mary Cassendane Johnson born 1858 in Tennessee. I think he had a twin sister named Alice. I have been told that he was orphaned as a child but can't find any information. Thank You Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
