I have found this very interesting and tend to want to know the outcome. My thoughts on the death certificate are that it was a mistake. How many females have u ran into with the name Russell??? very strange. Thats why i wondered if u had a death certificate for Ollie.... I looked and looked and could not find one. Was there a Russell Kitchen? Ii thought that he might be the informant but it looks like the informant was a Lukens?? And her father may have been Robert Nelson Wells? Which would give you a whole set of new searches to do. KIM Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have an Asahel Nelson Wells from DNA grouup W001, whose fourth wife was America, but the other names you give her are not familiar. He sometimes used A.N., Asahel, or Nelson Wells. Born Penna, lived in Michigan before Civil War, married there to his first cousin Charlotte Amelia Wells, dau of A.N.'s brother Henry; they moved to Floyd Co., Indiana, had 4 kids, divorced after the Civil War, married Kate Kennedy and had several children, divorced her; married Adelia Hawley Stevens Becker in Joliet, IL (where A.N.'s sister lived) in 1897 or 1898, children unknown; and then I found another marriage for him to America S. Atkinson Kemper Limebaugh/ Leimbach on 14 Nov 1900 at Cowherd Hotel, Taylor Co., KY, per records in the Civil War pension files. America was from Campellsville, Taylor Co., KY. They had a child Cary or Carey Louise Wells. Carey went to California in 1922 to live with or near the Kate Kennedy children. I haven't been able to locate her since. I need to know who she married. 1920 census: Boyle Co., KY: precinct 7, ED 37, p. 3B, house 69, family 90: Wells, A. K., head, owned free and clear, female overprinted on male, white, married?, 60, KY KY KY, no occupation, with Carey L.,daughter f, w 18, single, KY KY KY saleslady. There was his minor child surviving when A. N. died in 1911 (he is buried in a veterans cemetery in KY), per pension records. Kentucky Death Records on ancestry.com contain the death of America S. Wells, 71, at Taylor County, KY, on 3 Feb 1931 (volume 11, certificate 05445). This would indicate a birth date of 1860, so she was married for the third time at age 40. I don't know if she had children by her previous husbands. There is an Amanica S. Wells, 70, <1859> KY, living with her sister, also a widow, in Cambellsville, Taylor, KY in April, 1930. The sister was Jennie A. Gilpin, head, owns home $4500, age 56, KY. They had two school teacher lodgers living with them. Magisterial Dist. 3, ED 109-3, page 220, 317; house 142/family 167. I found that by looking for any Wells in Taylor County. The transcriber had misinterpreted the spelling, because to me it looked clearly America. A.N. led us on a merry chase through many states, wives, and children. He seemed to be an insurance salesman. There is a sort of proof of relationship, as a relative in the Kate Kennedy family had a picture of A.N.'s aunt--the same picture I have of my great grandmother, Eliza Wells Pollock. I would like to find a descendent of Carey. Maybe Carey and Ollie are the same person.Margie Pollock Bridges --- On Tue, 6/9/09, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: WELLS Digest, Vol 4, Issue 122 To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 7:01 AM Today's Topics: 1. "Marcus" was America Jane Porter's nickname...she appeared in the 1870 census for Elliott Co., KY under that name, and then appeared in the 1880 census for Elliott Co., KY under the name of Jane. Ollie Missouri Wells Porter was listed as "Pollie", age 3, in the 1880 census...according to the family history, Ollie is definitely America Jane Porter's daughter. Ollie was my gr-gr-grandmother, and her husband was John Wesley Kitchen, my gr-gr-grandfather. I am completely astounded by the Ohio Death Certificate you attached to your response because those are the exact same birth and death dates for Ollie Kitchen! According to the family history, Ollie died in Columbus, OH, which is right next door to Madison Co., OH noted as the place of death on the death certificate. More mysteries, or just sloppy work by the coroner's office? If this is actually Ollie Porter Kitchen's death certificate, why was she listed as "Russel R. Kitchen"?? "Webbfield" noted on the death certificate should be "Webbville". That's the actual name of the town and cemetery in Lawrence Co., KY. Could Robert Wells listed as her father be the same as "Nelson" Wells in the family history? Jane Porter works well as Ollie's mother because "Jane" was part of her mother's full name...America Jane "Marcus" Porter.
