I have been concentrating so much on going backward from my great grandmother Rachel Anna Wells that I haven't really researched who is still around the area now. I had spent so many years trying to research the Fullers that I kind of neglected the Wells. Now I realize that the Wells are very much a part of the Fuller Family history from way, way back in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Good Morning Wells Listers, Re: FaceBook - I have deactivated my FaceBook account. Exceedingly wary of FaceBook - particularly after articles in the broadsheets outlining the negatives. So, I hope that all Wells listings continue to come through Rootsweb Lists Best wishes Pamela on the Winter Solstice in Melbourne On 20/06/2009, JDave <[email protected]> wrote: > If we don't create a facebook page will we still see postings on this site > or do we have to monitor both this and the facebook page. Would someone explain how facebook will improve over posting on this site. Will it divide the postings and some will be posted here and some on facebook.
If we don't create a facebook page will we still see postings on this site or do we have to monitor both this and the facebook page. I guess what I would like to know is how facebook will improve what we now have. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 19, 2009 1:47 PM Subject: [WELLS] Facebook > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: PPotter808 > Surnames: Wells > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wells/5152/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > For all you Wells don't forget we now have a Facebook page...Wells Family. > Please join and let's share more information. > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: eileenfuller84 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wells/5151/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am tracing the Wells that moved form Hebron, Connecticut to Cambridge, Washington County, New York after the Revollutinary War. I am particularly interested in his son Shaler Wells and grandson Shaler Wells who resided in Warren County, New York once it was separated from Washington County about 1820. My great grandmother was Rachel Anna Wells born in 1832 5o Ira Wells and Elizabeth Harrin Ovitt. I am trying to determine if Ira is the brother to Shaler Wells, Sr. or if he was the son of one of Joseph's children. Joseph's other sons were Timothy, Joseph, and Henry. It turns out that the Ovit family also came from the East Haddam, Middlesex and Hebron, Tolland areas in Connecticut. I have always wondered what drew all of the Fullers to Berkshire County, Massachusetts and the eastern counties of New York. It turns out that they were just part of the wave of people associated family members leaving Connecticut after the Revolution. These associated families include Rowley, Loomis, Olmstead, Gates, Wells, Day, and Ovit. Over and over the children of these families married. So I guess if you meet someone with one of these surnames from this part of Connecticut, you are very likely a cousin, and possibly many times over. I found the childrens details on our local councils website as they have all records scanned for public access. The first born was Sarah on the date you gave. Author: eileenfuller84 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wells/5099.10/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My great grandmother was Rachel Anna Wells Fuller. She married Joel Chester Fuller in Warren County, New York in 1849. Until 1820 Warren County was part of Washington County. Rachel had a sister Johanna who married Joel's oldest brother Harmon J. Fuller. Rachel and Johanna's parents were Ira Wells and Elizabeth Harrin Ovitt Fuller. Ira's parents were Shaler Wells and Ann Dart. Shaler's parents were Joseph Wells and Thankful Shaler. This line of Wells moved from Hebron, Tolland County, Connecticut to Washington County, New York. Ira was born in Cambridge, Washington County, NY in 1804 but his father Shaler Wells was born in Hebron, Tolland Connecticut in 1761. Shaler's parents were born in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut, but died in Cambridge, Washington County, NY. I will be glad to research further if you think there is a connection. I have had a little trouble tracking the Wells. The Fullers all pretty much stayed in Warren County, except Joel's son Chauncey Ors! on, my great grandfather. He went to South Dakota, Iowa and finally to Montana to Portland, Oregon and back to Montana where he died at my Uncle Charlie Fuller's home.
