    3. Well, maybe we need to pose this question to Richard Irwin. Richard, are you still on line? And has anyone had contact with John Lowell Wells in the last three years? He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. At 06:10 PM 11/4/2009, you wrote: >Hello Orin, >Yes we are still on the list. 3. Hello Orin, Yes we are still on the list. The only breakthrough we have had in recent years is the confirmation that our Ebenezer descendant and Pliny's descendant are exact matches, suggesting they may come from a common line. However, We still haven't been able to document who is the father of Ebenezer. My question here is have you been able to confirm any additional information on the family of Peter Wells and his son Ebenezer? I am particularly interested in trying to determine if there is any proof that Ebenezer had a son Pliny/Pliney E. Wells. Presumably the "E" may have been "Ebenezer". We know that a descendent of Pliny E. Wells b: Cir 1833 in New York (Probably Clinton County) matches the DNA for this family. 3. Orin, Yes we had a male family member that was willing to take the test and Sonja was willing to pay for the testing. I have lost all my correspondence with Sonja due to a change in service providers and a hardware issue I had. Sanja if you are still a member of this list and you are still willing to do this let me know and we can work with my cousin Joyce to see if her father is till willing to do this for us. 3. Frank & Jan Apparently this exchange escaped my attention back in May. For everyone's information the Wells DNA project IS still very much in progress and likely will be until we run out of people to test. We have had 488 partcipants register in the project and have tested about 450. I am not sure of the exact number who have been tested. There is usually always someone awaiting results. Frank, have you been able to nail down your cousin for the testing on your family? I don't think I heard any more from you or Sonja on this. She was a great cook and was especially known for her apple cobbler. But most important in her life was her Lord and her family. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren; especially playing checkers. 3. Jim, I hope you are still on the list. This goes back over 8 years ago. We are having some challenges matching Pliny/Pliney to the correct parents and on up the tree. We think it should be through Ebenezer >> Peter >>Thomas >> Titus Orin R. 1. [WELLS] Israel Wells
    2. Marjorie Bridges
    3. I have started to look for the Israel Wells who was the brother of my 4 gr grandfather Asahel Wells. They were sons of Thomas Wells and Olive Newton, probably of Deerfield,MA,who moved to Guilford, VT and then Athens, VT. One of these sightings of Israels may be your relative. Margie G-2      Israel WELLS, b. 11/6/1763, d. 18 Mar 1819, reportedly. Have not found a birth or death record that I am confident is his. Find-a-Grave has an  Isreal Wells, born unknown, d. Jan. 8, 1865, buried New Albany National Cemetery, Floyd County, IN.Found an Israel in Athens, Windham Co., VT in 1800 census with 00010—20100 (two daughters): Israel Wells m. Mrs. Lucy Lyon on 27 Sep 1803 in Greenfield, Franklin, MA (or in Deerfield in Nov 24, 1810, son of David Wells and Mary Taintor). One  Israel Wells m. Dorinda DEANE on June 8, 1815. Both residence Athens. No Israel Wells living separately in 1790 in VT when he would have been 27. There was one living in 1790 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT: 1  2  1.An Israel Wells, a soldier of the Revolution, died in January 4, 1849 at age 88 at Greenfield (town records).    A 50-acre plot No. 25 was set aside for Israel Wells in the 1765 plot map of Guilford, VT. This information from "Official History of Guilford, Vermont 1678-1961 With Genealogies and Biographical Sketches", edited by Broad Brook Grange No. 151, 1961.Find-a-Grave has an  Isreal Wells, born unknown, d.  Jan. 8, 1865, buried New Albany National Cemetery, Floyd County, IN.

    3. Not immediately. It seems that Samuel's parents were from Shelburn and married in 1803 from the Intentions listed below. Israel of Shelburn, MA and Lucy Lyon, int. Sept. 27, 1803 Another reference shows their marriage as 24 Nov 1803 with no source cited. There may have been another child named Israel b: Cir 1795 in Connecticut. He married Mary Stark allegedly 15 Sep 1823 This was recorded in Greenfield which is where many of the descendents of Thomas Wells & Frances Albright were living at that time. Ahh - good guess. Israel was a son of David Wells & Mary Taintor Grandson of Noah Wells & Sarah Wyatt g-Grandson of Noah Wells & Mary White gg-grandson of Thomas Wells & Mary Beardsley ggg-grandson of Thomas Wells & Frances Albright You should everything down to Israel in the merge files from Clayton's data. He had not found anything on Israel so Samuel does not show nor any siblings or children. Samuel Israel Wells b: Shelburne, MA 17 May 1792. Dartmouth 1814. Apparently he studied law under Daniel Webster, was quite bright and graduated first in his class. He practiced and taught law in Salisbury, NH. Son of Israel Wells & Lucy Lyon. Married Lucy Kellogg 30 Jan 1824, moved to Windham, Maine 1836. Had five children. Died in Portland, Maine in 1846 or 1847 At first I thought this was clearly not the same guy. But I think one of these is in error. He can't have died in Portland, Maine AND have "removed to Alabama". But he also apparently was not "of New York". But then I found another reference ("History of Salisbury" that says he did indeed go to Alabama after going first to Windham. where he taught school. His wife Lucy apparently wrote Sunday School books. This may explain the departure to Alabama. "His overfondness of the wine glass led him to leave his wife and children, and they soon lost track of him.". She died in Portland 16 Oct 1844, maybe he didn't. Other references I found show he was a highly respected attorney and many have been identified as having studied law with or under him. Children: Jackson Wells 10 Jul 1825 m: Kate Bruckner in Lafayette, LA - 2 children he was a druggist. Spencer Wells 17 Feb 1827 d: Portland 25 May 1881.
