Earlene and Barbara Have you every try the WEEKS House in Maine Subj: Re: Philip Benjamin and son David Solomon WEEKS; SC Date: 5/13/2003 3:11:59 PM Central Daylight Time Barbara, In your post I noticed you said you didn't know of any Weeks outside of N.Y. Do you have any early ones in N.Y. My Rebecca was born in 1735 in Norwich, CT. Married Reuban TAYLOR in Norwalk, Ct., and they moved with a couple of children to Westchester Co., Cortland Manor before my Thaddeus TAYLOR was born in 1764. They lived there for several years, then moved back to Norwalk, then to Orange Co., N.Y., nad finally settled in Wyoming Co., PA where they both died in the early 1800's. Even after searching for 25 years, I can't find her parents. Do you have a Rebecca in the right age group for mine? Thanks. Good Hunting. Earlene Hutsell eroch25at aol.com
Dear Earline, I have not been able to get past my NYC and Brooklyn Weekses. They seem to all have been in the NYC/Brooklyn area from at least sometime prior to 1800 when my ggg-grandfather, John A Weeks was born in NYC. He married Charlotte Sears who was b. 1805 in Hudson, NY. I believe John's mother was Elizabeth, per her tombstone at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn. (No record of Elizabeth's husband is in the buriel records at Greenwood). A couple of documents state one parent came from Maine. My brother-in-law is trying to run that one down as we speak. We are at a brick wall with our Weeks family!! My Weeks ancestors are 3)William Edward Weeks, g-grandfather, 2)Joseph Mont Weeks, gg-grandfather, 1)John A Weeks, ggg-grandfather. There may be an Edsall connection. I'd love to help you out; perhaps we do have a connection. A big problem is with the census takers and the household servants who answered the enumerators questions!! Our branch seems to be a small one so finding descendants is problematic too. Good luck in your search !
