Hi All, My name is Jason Haydon. I am working on my WEEAKS/WEAKS/WEEKS ancestry, and have been for quite some time now. What I know is the following: William Merritt WEEKS b. 1829 Ill d. Llano County, Texas md(1) Mary Ann Hines md(2) Luvisa (TIDWELL) SWIFT He had four children: George Washington Christophere Columbus Mary Cansada md. John C. Vaught Calvin Merritt d. bef 1880 What I believe: I believe that William had a brother named Isaac H. WEEKS b. 1838 or so in Arkansas. Isaac md. William's wife's sister, and is on the 1880 census of Llano County, Texas, not far from William M. On the 1850 census of Milam County, Texas, William is listed as age 26? and living in a hotel, it also says that he was born in Arkansas, not IL. Also in Milam county are three other WEEKS, Eda, Julia, and Isaac. Eda is listed as being 24 years old and living with a STEPHEN family, Julia is 15 and I saac is 12, they are living in a MOORE family, in between two STEPHEN(S) families, the wife in the MOORE family, had been a STEPHEN(S) before she married. In reviewing the 1840 census of Arkansas, there are only four WEEKS/WEAKS households, two in Poinsett County, Arkansas. One of these is Joseph and the other is a widow named Nancy.. The children in Joseph's family do not match by age, however the children in the Nancy WEEKS household do match in age, with the addition of two more sons, one older(15-20 years old), and one in the same age range as "ISAAC" (zero-five years old,) and one older daughter. In looking for clues I have found records that say that Joseph WEEKS was from Tennesse, and should have been there in 1830. The only Joseph I have found that might match is listed as WEAKS in 1830 TN, and living next to him is a John WEAKS, correct age to possibly be a brother of Joseph, and with the correct number of children, falling into the proper age groups, for the children and the wife. My supposition: William Merritt WEEKS(later spelt WEEAKS) was the second son and fourth child of John and Nancy ________ WEEKS/WEAKS, that John died between 1838 and 1840 in Arkansas, (possibly Poinsett County), and that Nancy died sometime between 1840 and 1850 in TX or Arkansas. What I'm asking: Does anyone have information which will help sustantiate or disprove my theory? Has any researched the family of Nancy WEEKS of Poinsett County, Arkansas, and her brother-in-law? Joseph WEEKS. Also, does anyone have any information on Eda WEEKS b. abt 1825 in Arkansas/Tennesse/Illinois, Julia WEEKS b. 1835 in Arkansas/Tennesse/Illinois, or Isaac WEEKS b. 1838 in Arkansas? I am also looking for information on the family of Mary Cansada (WEEKS) VAUGHT and her husband John C. If anyone knows anything or would care to have more information on this family, please contact me.
