I am currently researching the Weeks family in Camborne parish, Cornwall, England. The family is as follows: Thomas John Weeks, b. May 11, 1878 in Roose, Barrow, Lancashire; m. Johanna Mathilda Anderson Mar. 30, 1903 in Sacramento, California, USA; d. June 28, 1940 in Nevada City, California. Son of Benjamin Weeks and Ellen Jane Michell. Benjamin Weeks was b. abt. 1846 in Camborne, Cornwall; m. Ellen Jane Michell July 25, 1877 in Roscowine, Camborne, Cornwall; d. Nov. 30, 1911, in Grass Valley, California. Son of John Weeks and Margaret Michell. John Weeks was bapt. Oct. 16, 1813, in Camborne, Cornwall; m. Margaret Michell Dec. 3, 1836, in Camborne, Cornwall. Son of William Weeks and Mary Hocking. William Weeks was bapt. June 3, 1785 in Camborne, m. Mary Hocking Nov. 21, 1812 in Camborne. Son of William Weeks and Margery Prideaux. William Weeks was bapt. May 1, 1757 in Camborne; m. Margery Prideaux Sept. 11, 1783. Son of William Wicks. The children of William Wicks are: William bapt. May 1, 1757 Margaret bapt. Nov. 25, 1753 Elisabeth bapt. Mar. 27, 1749 There are NO records of Wicks or Weeks in Camborne parish before 1749! I do not know if the family moved around this time from somewhere else or if the surname was dramatically changed. The only thing I find before that is some scattered entries for Treweeke. The children of William and Margery are: Margery bapt. Oct. 26, 1783 William bapt June 3, 1785 Henry bapt Apr. 13, 1788 (m. Mary Laity July 14, 1814 in Camborne) Anne bapt Aug. 21, 1791 Margery bapt. Feb. 27, 1795 Grace bapt. Mar. 22, 1799 The children of William and Mary are: John bapt. Oct 16, 1813 Mary bapt. Nov. 18, 1818 Marian bapt. Feb. 16, 1818 Caroline bapt. Dec. 16, 1820 William bapt. Apr. 5, 1823 James bapt. Jan. 21, 1826 The children of John and Margaret are: Elizabeth abt 1841 Samuel abt 1842 Christiane abt 1845 Benjamin abt 1846 John abt 1849 Thomas abt 1847 Margaret abt 1851 At least two children from this family migrated to the United States - Benjamin and one of his brothers.
