I, too, am researching the Weeks line which was in Cornwall and my g-grandparents, grandparents andparents were born in Nevada City and my parents and an uncle lived in Sacramento their entire life. Here is my family so we can compare notes: My grandfather Stanley Edward Weeks was born Mar. 15, 1907, son of Thomas John Weeks and Johanna Mathilda Anderson in Grass Valley, California. He married Edna Dowlais Lusk Sept. 6, 1925 in Reno, Nevada. He died November 15, 1975 in Quincy, California. His father Thomas John Weeks was born May 11, 1878, in Roose, Barrow, Lancashire to Benjamin Weeks and Ellen Jane Michell. Ellen was Benjamin's second wife, he had no other children. The family came to the United States, probably landing in California about 1880-1881. Benjamin worked as a miner possibly in California or Montana. Ellen died about 1881 in childbirth, the child died with her. I have been unable to find where she died or when. According to my father, Thomas was then sent back to England to live with cousins and he returned to the United States when he was about 20 years old. He married Johanna Anderson and they settled in Nevada county, California, where Benjamin lived with his third wife Eliza Richards. They both worked as miners, Benjamin also worked as a cobbler and janitor of the local Methodist church before his death Nov. 30, 1911 in Grass Valley. According to my dad, another brother came to the US with Benjamin. Thomas and Johanna had three children: Stanley Edward, Thomas Karl (born Nov. 1, 1909 in Grass Valley, died in Sacramento August 6, 1967, married to Hope Clark) and Ferrol Ellen (born Nov. 23, 1903). Stanley had three sons, one of whom died at age two, Ferrol had one son who has children and grandchildren now, and Thomas had no children. Thomas John died June 28, 1940 in Nevada City, California. Johanna died in Reno, Nevada in 1960. Ferrol died recently in Reno. Both of Stanley's remaining sons and Ferrol's son are still living. I will wait anxiously until I hear back from you!
