    3. Sorry but none of these names means anything to me. I can only wish I could help. Noreen Blair ----- Original Message ----- From: "dglang" <dglang@onemain.com> To: <WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 2:26 PM Subject: Amiel Weeks & Vermont Weeks > Last month Nina and Noreen had several posts re Lyman Weeks and some of that info caught my attention. The posts mentioned Amiel Weeks and also a Vermont Weeks line, which sparked my interest. So, this is to Nina and Noreen, as well as to anyone who may have Weeks in Vermont. > > I have some mysteries which I've been trying to solve for several years now, involving both my maternal line and my husband's maternal line. > My earliest known ancestor on my mother's side was Andrew Weeks, who emigrated to America from Scotland abt 1773, along with 2 older brothers: Bisset/Bizet Weeks and Zechariah Weeks. Andrew was born abt. 1751 and appears to be the youngest of the three, so I'm guessing the brothers are a few years older, possibly born in the 1740s in Scotland. I have not yet found their family in Scotland, which is my first mystery. > > My Andrew settled in Columbia Co, NY, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, 10th Reg., Albany (County) Militia, aka Col. Livingston's Regimment, of Livingston's Manor, where Andrew was later a mason and tenant farmer to H.W. Livingston, married to Anna Dorothy/Dorothea/Dolly Shaver(dtr if Johannes Schaeffer & Elizabeth Daniels). Andrew & Dolly had 10 children: Peter, Bisset/Bizet (died young, twin to Peter), John, David (my ancestor), Bisset/Bizet (2nd, also died young), Miles, Elizabeth Daniels, Eleanor, Robert Tong and James Livingston. Some other names of neighbors, friends, inlaws and sponsosrs connected to this family are: Berden, Borck, Carroll, Cline, Conklin, Cranckheyt, Daniels, Ecker, Hagerman, Hogeboom, Mueck, Patrick, Rohrback, Roth/Rath, Rowe, Schertz, Sheldon, Slocum and Van Texel. There are a number of baptisms recorded at the Linlithgo Reformed Church in Livingston, NY, sometimes showing the Weeks name spelled Wiks. Andrew died 20 DEC 1825, age 74, an! > d is buried in Livingston Cemetery, Columbia, NY, "south of Hudson". The children settled mostly in the Columbia Co. area and Otsego Co. > > The next mystery is Bisset/Bizet's line. The only info I have on Bisset/Bizet Weeks is that he settled in New York state, probably on Long Island, and that he possibly married a Catherine ?. There was a Bisset and Catherine Weeks who were the godparents of Andrew's son Bisset Weeks, at Linlithgo, NY. I have wanted to find Bisset's branch of the family, but have had no success. > > Third, is Zechariah's line. From my Weeks geneology, a copy of which is in the NY State Library, by DeWitt Clinton Weeks and Henry Clay Weeks, in 1896, the only info on Zechariah is that he was "a sea-faring man, who later in life settled in one of the New England States, probably Vermont." I keep hoping to find someone connected to this line, but so far, nothing. Noreen, do you possibly have this Zechariah Weeks somewhere in your Vermont Weeks line? > > Fourth, my husband's maternal great-great grandfather was Amiel Weeks Whipple (1818-5 MAY 1863), married to Eleanor Mary Sherburne, Amiel died at Chancelorsville, during the Civil War and was apparently friends with Abraham Linclon. I have LOTS of interesting information on him, but no idea where his middle name of Weeks came from. > > Amiel Weeks Whipple's line is as follows: > Amiel, son of David Whipple and Abigail Pepper, married 1806. Abigail's parents were Joseph Pepper & Zilpha Brown. > David, son of David W. Whipple (1759-1842) m Elizabeth (Betsy) Davis (1766-1826) in 1785. > David W. (Was HIS middle name Weeks???), son of James Whipple (1729-1767)m Lydia Powers in 1750. > James, son of Jacob Whipple (?-1789), m Jerusha Leland (1710-1789) in 1728. > This line goes back to the mid 1600s and is posted on the Whipple website and includes some interesting people. > > I've always wondered if Amiel was somehow related to my Weeks line, but I've been unable to find where his Weeks name came from. Then, Nina, your post mentions Amiel Weeks, son of George Weeks and Jane Capp. Is there a possibility that there is a connection between your Amiel Weeks and my husband's Amiel Weeks's line? > Do you have any Whipples showing up anywhere, or any of the women's lines listed above? > > I would appreciate any help from either of you or from anyone else who might know something about these lines. > > TIA > Gail Lang > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Nina Nielsen > To: WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com > Sent: Thursday, November 06, 2003 10:51 AM > Subject: Re: Lyman Weeks > > > Hi Noreen: > > Thanks for your post.
