Hi Randy, I'm not sure, although I think they are photocopied from an original book. I am so delighted to have the information, I don't mind a smudge here or there as long as I can read it easily---but the ones I have are very clear, not mis-aligned, etc. There was another place I forgot to mention, but it sounds like you live in MA and are probably already familiar with them: Higginson Book Co., PO Box 778 Salem, MA. 01970 or orders@higginsonbooks.com I haven't ordered from them yet. There are a couple of books I plan to order from them and have recently found the form I printed out then misplaced! Happy hunting. Hi Ron; I have received your messages, and when I get a chance, will try to give you more info. I have been up to my eyeballs working around the house; helping my partial invalid wife; working part time 3 days, and trying to make arrangements for my 50th high school reunion which comes up June 12th,,,,,,and I have a severe pinched sciatic nerve.... so please bear with me. I have two books published by Robert D. Weeks entitled...Genealogy of the Family of GEORGE WEEKES of Dorchester, Mass... 1635 to 1650 with some info in regard to other families of the name, especially of Thomas of Huntington, L.I. and Nathaniel of Falmouth and Hardwick, Ma. published in 1885,,,, and book II (or Part II) published in 1892. Photocopied books can be purchased from the New England Historical and Genealogical Society in Boston, Ma. There are so many Thomases of that line, I'll have to go thru them all to see if I can establish the line to Daniel..........so don't think I have forgotten about you. Hang in a little while longer....Please ???????/ Randy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Keating" <RKeating@Corp.Prodigy.com> To: <WEEKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 29, 2003 8:52 AM Subject: RE: Weeks outside NY > > Randy, > Would you be able to tell me where you found the information on John > Weeks, Daniel T. Dear Gail, Boy, oh boy, do I wish a name or two (or more) would dove-tail with my Weeks family----perhaps somewhere, but at first glance I don't see anything that meshes. I'll look at it again closer later tonight. Thanks ever so much for taking time to list all those names and dates !! If anyone else is researching the NYC Weekses, ours also includes some Smiths, Cutts, and Bartletts(by marriage). Seems most of them are in the Green-Wood Cem in Brooklyn. Thanks again, and happy hunting. My earliest George is George A Weeks, b 6 APR 1860, to Lewis D. Weeks and Armenia J. Wells, m 28 FEB 1881 to Mary L. Margaret Sessions et al, I'm curious about your Ebenezer Weeks, as I have no Ebenezers in my line. Who is your oldest known ancestor and his date of birth? My maternal grandfather was Francis Marion Weeks, b 11 FEB 1898, the 11th of 12 children, to Hiland Bisset/Bizet Weeks and Ella/Nellie A.Highburgh. Francis, who went by the name of Frank was married to my maternal grandmother, Albina Grace Michon, on 25 MAY 1919. He divorced her abt. the mid-1920s and later remarried and moved to FL, where he divorced his second wife in Sarasota, in July 1940. I do not know the name of this wife, how long they were married, or if there were any children produced by this marriage. I'm hoping someone in Florida might have a Weeks connection. My oldest known Weeks ancestor, Andrew, came to America from Scotland, about 1773. Along with Andrew were 2 older brothers, Bisset/Bizet Weeks and Zechariah Weeks. My unstubtantiated records state that Bisset/Bizet Weeks, the eldest of these 3 brothers, settled in NY state, probably on Long Island, but I have not found this line of the family. Zechariah Weeks, was said to be a "sea-faring man, who later in life settled in one of the New England states, probably Vermont." This too, is unsubstantiated information, but if true would be a Weeks line outside of NY state. This info is taken from my copy of Andrew Weeks genealogy, written in 1896 by one of Andrew's grandsons, DeWitt Clinton Weeks (8th and youngest child of David Weeks and Cornelia Conklin, David being the 4th of 10 children of Andrew Weeks and Dorothy/Dorothea/Dolly Shaver) and his nephew, Henry Clay Weeks, a great-grandson of Andrew Weeks (7th and youngest child of Hiland Bisset/Bizet Weeks and Allura Camp, Hiland being an elder brother of DeWitt Clinton Weeks). This genealogy can be found at the New York State Library in NYC. In it are various descendants who left New York and went to California, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin and unidentified states "west". Gail Lang My husband's family is riddled with Weeks on both sides of his family. His mother was Weeks, they came from north Florida, but, I believe that the original Weeks to come to the US was from Scotland and probably named Ebenezer as there were several Ebenezers in the family. His ggrandfather's name was Ira Ebenezer Weeks and was called Ebb. That's how he signed most everything and how he is listed in the census'. Guess the census taker couldn't spell Ebenezer.

Dear Barbara, I don't know if I have something that might help you or not, but a couple of things in your message caught my attention. My Weeks line begins with Andrew Weeks who settled in Copake, NY, Columbia Co about 1773. Andrew seems to have lived on the H. W. Livingston Estate as a tenant farmer, having served in the American Revolution in the 10th Reg, Albany Militia aka Col. Livingston's Regiment, aka Albany Co. Militia. He was a mason by trade and is buried in "the cemetery south of Hudson." Andrew, born about 1751, came to America with 2 elder brothers, Bisset/Bizet Weeks and Zechariah Weeks, supposedly from Scotland, in about 1773. He married Dorothy/Dorothea/Dolly Shaver (born abt 1755 to Johannes Schaeffer & Elizabeth Daniels, died abt 1830, had brothers: Peter, Jacob, Charles & Col. John Shaver & sister Anna Maria). Andrew died 20 DEC 1825, age 74 & is buried in the Livingston Cemetery, in Columbia Co, NY. Andrew & Dolly had 10 children: Peter Weeks, Bisset/Bizet Weeks, John Weeks, David Weeks, Bisset/Bizet (#2, both Bissets died young) Weeks, Miles Weeks, Elizabeth Daniels Weeks, Eleano! r (Nellie) Weeks, Robert Tong Weeks & James Livingston Weeks (more info 4 paragraphs down). Andrew's 3rd child/son was John Weeks, b 22 FEB 1779. He settled in Columbia Co, abt 2 mi. so of Hudson, m Lucretia Cline, age 15, in abt 1802. Lucretia died 29 JAN 1852, age 65 and John died 22 NOV 1848, age 67 and was buried "near Hudson. Their children were: Elizabeth Weeks, m William Dyer, settled died & buried in Hudson; Maria Weeks, m Henry Saulpaugh, settled & died in Hudson; John Weeks, who was born, settled and died in Hudson; David C. Weeks, born near Hudson, settled in No. Brookfield Mass; Hannah Weeks, married Walter Raynor of Blue Hill, settled in Blue Hill, so. of Hudson; Nelson T. Weeks, b 1816, Hudson, Columbia Co. NY (according to LDS 1880 Census), settled below Johnstown, Col. Co, NY and had a daughter Emeline married to Jno. Wagner, 537 Prospect St, Hudson; Peter Weeks, b 1818 near Hudson in Col. Co (listed in LDS 1880 census), settled & died Hartwick; James H. Weeks, b MAR 1824, near Hudson, married Margaret (dtr of Abm. Gardner, b 1832, d 12 JAN 1861,! age 28 yrs, 10 mos), settled & died Blue Hill, 19 APR 1859, age 35; Robert Weeks, b JUL 1822, near Hudson, settled on family homestead (*see note below), so of Hudson, m (1st) Lavina --- (she died 22 APR 1848, age 25 & her dtr. died 12 MAR 1846, age 9 mos, 18 days), m (2d) Margaret --- (she died 14 MAR 1862, age 29 years, 12 days after Robert. Her child, Helen, died 20 MAR 1860, age 2 mos), d 2 MAR 1862, age 40 yrs, 8 mos, near Hudson. (Unfortunately, my genealogy has no further info on this John, 2d child of John & Lucretia Cline Weeks. Could this be your John? Based on the date of his parents' marriage, the dates seem possible, though his parents did not live in NYC or Brooklyn.) *Info on Andrew Weeks, grandfather to Robert, states that Andrew settled in Copake, Columbia Co, NY. "Referring to his home, his grandson Andrew Weeks (1st cousin to Robert & siblings), writing from memory of the place says: 'He moved in a log house right on the corner of the farm where the road turned from the Lake [Copake] road to go up to Jas. Conklin's [or Cornelius Conklin's at that time] and so up to where Slocum lived [and afterwards Isaac Sheldon] and so up to what used to be called the Hagerman Place, now called Bain's Station on the Harlem Railroad.' " This info is copied directly from my Weeks genealogy, which is on file at the New York State Library in NYC, written in 1896. The info above is a bit difficult to follow, but I did Google search and found a map of the area and found some of the landmarks mentioned. Andrew and Dolly's 4th child/son was David Weeks (my direct line), b 20 MAR 1782, m 1802 to Cornelia Conklin (b 13 JUN 1785, d 27 OCT 1868, bu Hartwick), settled Hartwick, Otsego Co, NY, on the farm of his father-in-law, now (in 1896) in the family of a cousin, Andrew Weeks, b 13 AUG 1804 ( the same Andrew as in the *info above), d 13 DEC 1867 & buried Hartwick Cemetery, Otsego, NY. David & Cornelia's 1st child was John D. Weeks, b 20 JUN 1803, m 1 JAN 1826, to Sallie Cutler (b 12 NOV 1805), settled & died Hartwick, 27 OCT 1874. John & Sallie had 7 children: Cornelia, Ann Eliza, Emeline, Whiting T., Francis Marion, James Emory & John Milton Weeks. John Milton Weeks, b 27 MAY 1853, m 16 JUN 1872 to Ida Damon, d 24 SEP 1895, West Superior, WI. John & Ida had 2 children, but I have no further info on the line. Andrew & Dolly's 10th/last child was James Livingston Weeks, b 9 MAR 1793, married Phoebe Sheldon (b AUG 1801, d at Morris NY, 14 MAR 1887, buried Laurens, Otsego County, NY), settled in Columbia Co, died 6 JUN 1855 or 1857 (my gen. lists 1855, LDS 1880 census lists 1857), buried Churchtown, Columbia Co, NY. They had 10 children: Sylvester Weeks, George Weeks, John S. Weeks, Friend Weeks, Elizabeth Weeks, Mary Weeks, Walter Weeks & 3 unknown, several dying young. John S Weeks, b 12 FEB 1821, settled West Laurens, Otsego Co, NY, died Laurens, 15 JAN 15 1894, married Mary Gardner. (His sister, Elizabeth married Robert Gardner, perhaps brother to Mary?). John S & Mary Gardner Weeks had 5 children: Phoebe Weeks, Amy Weeks, Benjamin Weeks, Polly Weeks & Theron Weeks. David & Cornelia Conklin Weeks' 2d child/son was Andrew Weeks, b 13 AUG 1804, (the one who settled on the old homestead). He married 2x, 1st on 17 JAN 1828 to Elizabeth Pulver (born 26 JUL 1806, died 19 MAR 1864) and 2d on 1 JUL 1865 to Lanie Pierce, he died 15 NOV 1889 & is buried in the Hartwick cemetery. Andrew & Elizabeth had 4 children: Dorothy/Dolly Maria Weeks, David D Weeks, James Robert Weeks, and John Rose Weeks. Andrew & Lanie had no children John Rose Weeks, b 23 AUG 1841, Hartwick, Otsego, NY, married Catherine Donaldson abt 1 JAN 1866, is listed in LDS 1880 census. John & Catherine had 2 children: John Z. Weeks & Fanny Weeks, born 1872. John Z. Weeks, b abt 5 MAY 1868 (this child John is not listed in the LDS 1880 census, so he may have died young). John, Sr. was in the "War of the Rebellion" and "went to CA and not since heard from." Maybe someone out there will find a connection somewhere in all this. They seem to all have been in the NYC/Brooklyn area from at least sometime prior to 1800 when my ggg-grandfather, John A Weeks was born in NYC. He married Charlotte Sears who was b. 1805 in Hudson, NY. I believe John's mother was Elizabeth, per her tombstone at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn. (No record of Elizabeth's husband is in the buriel records at Greenwood). A couple of documents state one parent came from Maine. My brother-in-law is trying to run that one down as we speak. We are at a brick wall with our Weeks family!! My Weeks ancestors are 3)William Edward Weeks, g-grandfather, 2)Joseph Mont Weeks, gg-grandfather, 1)John A Weeks, ggg-grandfather. There may be an Edsall connection. I'd love to help you out; perhaps we do have a connection. A big problem is with the census takers and the household servants who answered the enumerators questions!! Our branch seems to be a small one so finding descendants is problematic too. Good luck in your search ! Barbara Rightman

1820 for Ira Ebenezer and 1851 for Ebb Weeks. Ebb married a Creek indian woman named Nancy Artemis Anderson who was born about 1864. Nancy's father was, as we can find, Willis or Bill Anderson. I can't find a connection to the Creeks with him, and he never could either although he claimed to be full blood Creek. Doesn't mean he wasn't, he just couldn't satisfy the government people that he was indeed full Creek. Margaret Smile and make people wonder what you have been up to.
